oldryder Posted July 11, 2012 #1 Posted July 11, 2012 Bought a low mileage 2008 this spring. Replaced a GL1500. SO far I like the venture better than the GL with the exception of the sound system which doesn't seem to have the oomph to provide enough volume to overcome earplugs. Handling is vastly superior to the GL1500. Not sure yet about all day comfort (which was excellent on the GL after adding a $700 aftermarket seat) but I'll get a read on that Friday when I make a trip for work with 225 mile round trip. hoping the stock seat doesn't cause butt burn. I dearly wish it had an electrically adjustable WS like my FJR. Presently adding farkles: baker air wings passenger arm rests (not sure of vendor yet, suggestions welcome) a clock! maybe a tach XM radio mount somehow I have to address the volume issue as road trip tunes are a big deal for me. good bike; I'm very glad I bought it!
steamer Posted July 11, 2012 #2 Posted July 11, 2012 Are you running stock mufflers? My RK's are a little to loud and drowns out the tunes a bit.

Hold both the select and reset buttons down at the same time till the clock shows. And then you have one. Bryan
Yammer Dan Posted July 11, 2012 #4 Posted July 11, 2012 somehow I have to address the volume issue as road trip tunes are a big deal for me. Make sure you don't have the Mute button pushed. Push it to make sure it is not on. A few of us have done that. Or so I have heard.....
kevin5549 Posted July 11, 2012 #5 Posted July 11, 2012 Man the tunes get loud fast when you push THAT button!
oldryder Posted July 11, 2012 Author #7 Posted July 11, 2012 eveyone thx for replies. this might be a really stupid question (wouldn't be the 1st time) but I don't see a mute button anywhere. bike is 2008 Star Venture. am I missing something?

gibvel Posted July 11, 2012 #11 Posted July 11, 2012 what he said... and mine doesn't seem to have a reset button either It's the select and reset button for the odometer. Page 3-5 of the manual.
Nemo Posted July 11, 2012 #12 Posted July 11, 2012 Passenger Arn Rests. Larry makes and sells some very nice folding ones. Easily fit and look terrific. That's Carbon One: iskeels@wowway.com.
midnightrider1300 Posted July 11, 2012 #13 Posted July 11, 2012 It's the select and reset button for the odometer. Page 3-5 of the manual. No MANUAL ... that is my problem
bongobobny Posted July 11, 2012 #14 Posted July 11, 2012 Another vote for the Carbon One armrests!! Larry makes up a nice pair that flip up rather than the Diamond R's that swing out. I feel they are a lot safer! As far as the volume level, are you listening thru the headset or the speakers?? There are some nicer replacement speakers that will liven up the sound a bit. For XM radio mount go with a Ram Universal mount, they seem to be the best...

spke Posted July 11, 2012 #18 Posted July 11, 2012 Could be wrong(it almost happened once -lol) but the AV setting is speed related. AV-5 adjusts up a notch every 10mph or so starting around 20mph. darthandy Posted July 12, 2012 #20 Posted July 12, 2012 It's not necessary to press both the select and reset buttons to get the clock. Just hold down the select button for a few seconds and the clock will show up. Press select again to get back to the odo and trip meters. Andy
