Guest Popeye Posted January 16, 2008 #1 Posted January 16, 2008 If anyone remembers, I sold my 86VR to a man in Germany & was looking e/where for a newer scoot. Wife & I got stranded on the scoot 4 times this year & it spent most of the season in the shop. We did make it to ES in Aug, though. Got a new scoot at a price I couldn't refuse. It's a 97 Honda Goldwing 1500 SE with custom paint, 21k miles, hitch & stinger + too many extras to list. Didn't cost much more than I sold my 86 for. Nav said 'newer' scoot...period. What do you think? Can I still be a member & hang-out with ya'll?
Brake Pad Posted January 16, 2008 #2 Posted January 16, 2008 Now the question is, are we going to let ya? Good luck, really nice bike
SaltyDawg Posted January 16, 2008 #3 Posted January 16, 2008 Nice Scoot, I like what they did with the second trunk. That gives me an idea. Now all I need to do is find a silver 99 trunk lid and I'm in business.
mini-muffin Posted January 16, 2008 #5 Posted January 16, 2008 What do you think? Can I still be a member & hang-out with ya'll? I see you didn't read the fine print when you signed up here. Nobody's allowed to leave. Once a member always a member. Otherwise we send Charlie to live with you. :rotf: Sorry Charlie just kidding. Margaret
Midnight Rider Posted January 16, 2008 #6 Posted January 16, 2008 Most of the men on here are older gents and that is a senior citizen bike............ Guess you can stay...:rotf::rotf:
Midnight Rider Posted January 16, 2008 #7 Posted January 16, 2008 BTW............good looking bike.... Dale
Yama Mama Posted January 16, 2008 #8 Posted January 16, 2008 Beautiful Gold Wing, with the interesting trunk attachment addition. Mini is right though you know, this VR membership is a lifetime commitment. Besides you would miss us for sure. Peggy
Squeeze Posted January 16, 2008 #9 Posted January 16, 2008 Nice Bike, i'm sure you will like it. But, if you were living in Germany, you'd get prepared for a different Style of Approach from the People you meet and you'd better behave like a real Winger. That means, your Nose must be at least the highest Point of your Body when dismounted from the Bike. :rotf::rotf:
Lone Eagle Posted January 16, 2008 #11 Posted January 16, 2008 I want to know who the back rest is for on the second trunk - great looking bike.
pegscraper Posted January 16, 2008 #12 Posted January 16, 2008 You're still welcome. You wouldn't be the only one around here who sold a Venture and got a GW. Freezyrider did the same thing here last summer, and he still visits. He joined us on a ride late last fall.
Marcarl Posted January 16, 2008 #13 Posted January 16, 2008 Pretty soon we have to change our name to Venturewing or something like that. Sweet scoot you got there, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it for a long time. You'll have to stick around though, where else are you gonna find the advice and kicking around that you find here?
Squidley Posted January 16, 2008 #14 Posted January 16, 2008 Nice looking scoot bud I agree with Salty dog, that is a trick idea for a spare trunk....I'm thinking too
Redneck Posted January 17, 2008 #15 Posted January 17, 2008 A goldwing you bought a damn goldwing?:rotf::rotf: Congratulations that is a very nice looking scoot I hope you have many enjoyable miles on it.
cecdoo Posted January 17, 2008 #16 Posted January 17, 2008 Pretty Sweeeet, I like it. Hope you have good luck with it. Craig
onerider Posted January 17, 2008 #17 Posted January 17, 2008 Popeye, that 2nd matching trunk & rack looks just great. I think you'll really enjoy your new ride on those longer rides.
hipshot Posted January 17, 2008 #18 Posted January 17, 2008 SURE IS GREEN up there in "cold country"! you ought to be ridin'. nice looking bike. hope the navigator enjoys it! just jt
Leadwolf56 Posted January 17, 2008 #19 Posted January 17, 2008 nice looking bike, next best thing to a 1st gen.....:rotf: Did the previous owner have a midget that rode where that second trunk is? That would explain why it has a backrest on it.....:rotf: Enjoy it, that would be a great ride.
86er Posted January 17, 2008 #20 Posted January 17, 2008 Most of the men on here are older gents and that is a senior citizen bike............ Guess you can stay...:rotf::rotf: Hey! I represent tha.....errrrr I resemble tha.............errrrr Oh never mind!!! I just want some of the drugs y'all are on! I don't see a backrest on that second trunk, although it does look like it has some sort of bag on it. Sweet ride, Popeye!
Guest Popeye Posted January 17, 2008 #21 Posted January 17, 2008 That second trunk has 2 leather pouches to keep stuff in during trips. I KNOW YOU'RE JUST TRYIN' TO WIND ME UP BUT........ IT IS NOT A MIDGET BACKREST. I can't see using that trunk too much, except for long trips, & even then the Nav will take it over faster than a spare closet. It seemed a good alternative to a trailer. The green background is from way down in TX where I bought it from. I haven't seen or rode it yet. I had a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Assn check-it-out for me. He called & emailed me both & wouldn't take anything for his trouble. Right now, the scoot's on a truck about an hour away......driver just called, had to get off I-35 turnpike due to snow/ice/blowin' snow/wrecks. The guy who bought my 86VR said he belongs to a big Venture's Group in Germany & visits this site all the time. I'll admit to being a 'senior citizen' when I can no longer hold up a Wing or RSV & have to buzz around on a little Sportster. If you see a Black Wing, It'll be me if the Popeye face is on the RH saddlebag. "I yam what I yam"
BradT Posted January 17, 2008 #22 Posted January 17, 2008 That means, your Nose must be at least the highest Point of your Body when dismounted from the Bike. Now that is funny I just want some of the drugs y'all are on! I don't see a backrest on that second trunk, although it does look like it has some sort of bag on it. Sweet ride, Popeye! Guess you proving his point ! PS nice ride and I really like the looks of the trunk BRad
Squeeze Posted January 17, 2008 #24 Posted January 17, 2008 That means, your Nose must be at least the highest Point of your Body when dismounted from the Bike. Now that is funny Brad, you didn't know why a real Winger can't ride with a full Face Helmet ?? Because the lower Face Part isn't transparent .... :rotf::rotf:
Freebird Posted January 17, 2008 #25 Posted January 17, 2008 That's really a nice looking bike. I like the paint scheme and also the extra trunk carrier. I hope you get many miles of smiles out of it.
