Hello: I am sure I have read other posts where owners have replaced their factory grips with new grips minus the bar end weights. I myself prefer the weights. Just my thoughts.

I haven't had them on my bike in 5 years due to using Kuryakyn ISO grips and now a set of Avon grips. What little extra vibration there is is negligible IMO.

I put ISO grips on my 08 RSTD but kept the bar end weights. I tried it for a week without the weights but didn't like the extra vibration. If using ISO grips it is real easy to drill out the ends to allow the stock weights to slip inside. just like stock.

Your hands will fall off after 52 miles.

But dont worry, if this happens, Seafoam will fix it.

I've never had the end weights as I bought the bike w/ aftermarket grips on it.. But I don't notice any vibration.

Would like to have them for the extra extension.. so may add one day..

have Avon grips now

Both Kuryakyn and Baron's sell bar end weights for around $40. They are made to fit on the end of the Kuryakyn ISO's. I think the Kuryakyn ends are a little bit heavier of the two.

But either is not near as heavy as the stock end weights.

The Baron's are bullet points, the Kuryakyn are more flat ended. Both look good.

When I first got ISO's on my RSTD I did a week or two without.

Then had the stock weights shaved to fit. Yes, I could tell. Glad to have them.

On my RSV, I went with the aftermarket for easy fit.

The aftermarket ones simply use the four small screws and go in in minutes.

Using the stock weights takes some grinding somewhere, either the weights or the grips.

I think they are needed more on the RSTD than the RSV as the RSTD bars stick out wider.

Forgot to mention that I have the Flanders bars so that may be the difference in my experince over the others here. Them being longer & wider that is than the stock bars.

I put on the ISO grips without weights and can't tell any more vibration. It should show up in the mirrors along with your hands, I don't notice any difference in either. I do really like the ISO grips compared to the stock for hand comfort.
