frankd Posted July 7, 2012 #1 Posted July 7, 2012 For the last couple of days, this site has been giving me the error message that A SCRIPT IN INTERNET EXPLORER IS RUNNING TOO SLOW, DO YOU WANT TO STOP RUNNING THAT SCRIPT? (YES or NO). Just before this comes up, my computer freezes for about 10 seconds. This happens every time I open a new page. Is anybody else having this problem? Frank D.
msshearin Posted July 7, 2012 #2 Posted July 7, 2012 no sir I don't run IE I run google chrome......no problems
bongobobny Posted July 7, 2012 #4 Posted July 7, 2012 Not having the problems you describe, but a couple of times it has taken a while to load the page. If I close IE and come back it's OK...
halfwitt Posted July 7, 2012 #5 Posted July 7, 2012 HTML, JavaScript, etc., have two protocols: IE and Everything Else. It could very well be that there has been a modification to scripting somewhere that did not accommodate IE protocol. Try a different browser and see what happens. Chrome and Firefox are the most popular.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted July 7, 2012 #6 Posted July 7, 2012 It may be related to the script thats putting flies on some of the threads....someone has a sneaky sense of humor...
etcswjoe Posted July 7, 2012 #7 Posted July 7, 2012 When I was having that error it was caused by google
playboy Posted July 7, 2012 #8 Posted July 7, 2012 It may be related to the script thats putting flies on some of the threads....someone has a sneaky sense of humor... So is that what they mean by a fly in the ointment.
Freebird Posted July 7, 2012 #9 Posted July 7, 2012 I use Firefox but regularly test it with IE also and I've not seen that error or any slowness with either browser.
First_N_Last Posted July 7, 2012 #10 Posted July 7, 2012 Lately with all the browser script problems going on I have been trying to use FireFox as much as possible with an add-on called "NoScript". It has made my internet browsing much safer & controlled.
calperin Posted July 7, 2012 #11 Posted July 7, 2012 Agree about Firefox, and check your computer for MalWare attacks.
frankd Posted July 7, 2012 Author #12 Posted July 7, 2012 I did a malware test (Malwarebytes) first thing. BTW, I'm running XP. I also have the problem with Firefox, but not quite so bad. As suggested, I installed Chrome, and it works a lot faster. On this site, it does freeze but only for about 2 seconds. When it stops the microprocessor usage goes to 100%, and then back down when the computer unfreezes. It's very usable with Chrome, but it's not quite right. Frank
