treecol Posted July 2, 2012 #1 Posted July 2, 2012 The only bit of my bike I don't really like is the Yamaha badge on the trunk. I'd like to remove it & perhaps fit a chrome handle. Has anyone done this? Wondering if it's easy to do, is it held on with lugs, stuck on, will it leave a mark, etc. cheers if you can help.
awsmsrv Posted July 2, 2012 #2 Posted July 2, 2012 It's on there with double sided tape. Take some fishing line to it and saw back and forth. Then use WD-40 or Goo Gone to remove the residue.
KeithR Posted July 2, 2012 #3 Posted July 2, 2012 I would thing it's are on there with double sided tape. Fishing line and a back and forth motion seems to be the preferred method of removal.....then fight with the tape/glue. I still have mine on there so I'm not speaking from experience! Keith
gunboat Posted July 3, 2012 #4 Posted July 3, 2012 i have not used fishing line to remove bages. but have used some plastic putty knife styled scrapers from work that do the job. i also agree on the wd-40 to help remove the sticky stuff. don c.
Guest scarylarry Posted July 3, 2012 #5 Posted July 3, 2012 Rear trunk and chrome use a hair dryer and heat it up, then scrap underneath with a finger nail should peel right off.. Then use go jo or wd-40 to remove the residue from the glue left behind... I used go jo and a rag myself..
treecol Posted July 3, 2012 Author #6 Posted July 3, 2012 Done it & it looks good! Used fishing line to remove badge & then wife's hair dryer to remove large strip of sticky. Then her fingernail, with a cloth over, soaked in WD-40 (the cloth not the wife). Success. Cheers for all the help.
