Rear Exhaust cover

I have look the service manual and can't find anything on this..

 

The chrome heat shields that are on the rear header pipes how do you remove that shield I have taken out the bolt and still it will not move..

 

Does the shield even come off, I'm wondering now?

I do not think those are made to come off, the parts catlog on line shows them with the pipe as an assembly and does not break it down and give seperate part numbers for the heat shields and the pipes.

If I recall correctly when I put a full set of Bubs on my 98 Royal Star Tour Classic the pipes and heat shields came off together, I suspect the Ventue is the same.

 

I just went out and looked at mine, I think they are spot welded to a bracket that is welded to the pipes.

 

I could be wrong, I have been wrong before.

 

What are you doing that you need that shield off? Maybe there is another approach to what ever it is you are doing.

Thanks, if I remove the shield it would be easier to get to that inside header bolt...
