D4klutz Posted June 30, 2012 #1 Posted June 30, 2012 Tried to order some diaphragms for my 87 this week from http://www.siriusconinc.com , but they won't have them in stock for another 5 weeks. Does anyone know where I can get the sd-1 diaphragms faster than that? If someone has a spare set lying around, I would gladly send money via PayPal in order to get them. I inspected one of mine and it has a few good size holes in it. I dread to see what the other ones look like. Thanks in advance. JP
DragonRider Posted June 30, 2012 #2 Posted June 30, 2012 When I ordered mine they said they were backordered too, but I got them about a week later, I didnt pull mine out till they arrived, if you want you can use liquid electrical tape to fix them temporarily, I did that and the one I repaired was still in good. After I put them in, I couldnt believe the difference in the way it ran, it has never run this good in the 8 years that I have owned the bike. But I just ordered 4 of these and they are like saving some for ebay it looks like. should be here in a few days. Angel:cool10:
DragonRider Posted June 30, 2012 #4 Posted June 30, 2012 Getting them from Ebay will cost you about $40.00 more than getting them directly from Sirius. My total with shipping was either 82.00 or 89.00, cant remember for sure. WHen you ordered from Sirius did you tell them you were a member of VR, we get a discount that was set up by another member here. If you can wait you can save a little money.:mo money: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11014.m43.l1123/7?euid=1271a83f7351425c8cf6c3bb6256436d&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D290729497816%26ssPageName%3DADME%3AB%3AWNAFP%3AUS%3A1123 I hope this gets to you in time. Snaggletooth Posted June 30, 2012 #5 Posted June 30, 2012 If you are in a bind I found a repair that seems to hold up very well for quite a while. I had a lot of pin holes in mine but no tears so I took the diaphrams out and cupped them over the tops of some milk cartons so the slider was protected inside the carton. Taped off the outside of the slide and wiped the diaphrams down with alcohol to clean them. I gave each one a light coat on the oustside only with spray Plastic Dip and let it cure for 24 hours. Thinner and more flexable than the heavy coat of Liquid Tape. That treatment made an immediate difference in the bike and it ran well over 2 years with that being done. Like I said, if you're in a bind, it will get you by for a while. By the way, I got an e-mail from Martin at SCI yesterday and he is going to let me know when the new shipment comes in. Their price is at $69.99 for the SD-1 x 4 set and $12.00 for shipping if you let them know you are with the Ventureriders. I talked the seller on eBay and he said he was getting his from a suppier in South America. I have no idea on the quality of his product. Mike
