I know nothing about a 1st gen, but there are no stupid questions, so do not hesitate to ask away. look through the site and maybe a member lives close to you, most folks on here are more then happy to get together and turn a wrench or two. Welcome to the site and we hope you will stick around.

Hi all I would like to thank everyone for all their advise on how to change the plugs on my 85 royale. Unfortunaly i was unable to do it so it now sits in the bike shop. I've owned many motorcycles but never one that need a shop to change the plugs.. Again thanks to all for your help.

Hey, the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask just before you screwed up something!

 

Now that being said, you may get some (good natured) smart a$$ answers!!! :whistling:

And a swivel joint helps as well. Lowes used to have Kobalt tools, they had a thin-walled 18mm socket that works perfect......

Yep, a thinned walled socket, a swivel or U joint and a long extension w/ratchet...

 

I can change my plugs in about 15 min
