Eddie Posted June 29, 2012 #1 Posted June 29, 2012 Just made our finale plans for our trip. Big Mike and I will be in Sturgis on Aug. 5th . We have been talking about doing this for 10 years and its finally going to happen . I can't wait to get out there. I was out there in 1971 and need to refresh the memories of some of the stuff I seen at six. Now I need to make some 47 year old memories. Are we going to catch up to any VR members there for some fun ?
Phoneman1981 Posted June 29, 2012 #2 Posted June 29, 2012 Yes. As of this moment Graderman46 and myself and our wives plan to attend. We have discovered over the past few years how difficult it is to find others during bike week. But we think we found a solution. Last year we actually stayed in Sturgis rather than Custer. Each morning the Sturgis FFA students prepare a wonderful breakfast for $8. The Highschool is located east of town and is easy to find. It has a large parking area. It would be a great place to have a VR.org member meet.
TheKid Posted June 29, 2012 #3 Posted June 29, 2012 I have a good group of people riding out with me i believe as of now there are 6 or 7 bikes. I can't promise i can get all of the to go to breakfast. I do know the one major day we spend downtown my bike and trailer will be at the JDX (Jack Daniel's Experience). So I am sure I will meet and see some VR riders out there somewhere or sometime. We stay in Wall so i will try to talk some or all of the to ride in and enjoy in a breakfast. Everyone Ride safe we don't have much longer to go wait.
bj66 Posted June 30, 2012 #4 Posted June 30, 2012 I plan on going out. Not sure when exactly. But since I am from South Dakota, I can plan at last minute. I stay at the Iron Horse Campground. Just look for the Sedona Orange HD Road Glide. I ought to be easy to spot.............Oh wait I forgot, this is Sturgis and there will be at least 2 dozen or perhaps more HD's out there
Guest tx2sturgis Posted July 6, 2012 #5 Posted July 6, 2012 Just a few more weeks. So did anyone decide on a meeting place and time? I think some of us could make the Sturgis/Brown Highschool Breakfast one or more times during the rally. This highschool is located just EAST of Sturgis, on highway 34, on the north side, about halfway out to the Full Throttle Saloon. It is well marked and easy to spot. I believe a nice breakfast served here was about $8 and change...of course prices may be higher this year. Heres my proposal: Tuesday, the 7th, at 0900 and then again on Thursday the 9th, at 0900, (thats 0900 MOUNTAIN time) I suggest trying to sit at a table thats in the Southwest corner of the gymnasium, but of course that could change depending on the crowds. That would be to your right as you walk in the gym, where they serve breakfast. The serving line goes around to the left, so that will give us room, unless the staff changes things. Maybe someone who definitely plans on attending could bring some kind of small sign, or a Venture Flag, and display it at the table. Or we could all meet in the lobby/foyer at 9 and then file in as a group when we have a few members gathered. If these days or times dont work, then I'm certainly open to another idea, time or place.
Eddie Posted July 6, 2012 Author #6 Posted July 6, 2012 sounds like a plan I will have to write this info down and put it our plans.

Phoneman1981 Posted July 8, 2012 #10 Posted July 8, 2012 Hello Everyone: Thanks Brian for keeping the ball rolling. Your idea for Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9:00 at the Highschool is a great idea. I look forward to meeting more VR members.
Eddie Posted July 13, 2012 Author #11 Posted July 13, 2012 http://horsemotelsd.com/Home.html This is where we will be staying. Piedmont is about 10 miles from Sturgis.
Patrolman46 Posted July 13, 2012 #12 Posted July 13, 2012 Hello Everyone: Thanks Brian for keeping the ball rolling. Your idea for Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9:00 at the Highschool is a great idea. I look forward to meeting more VR members.[/QU I think the Tue & Thur meeting dates are fine, but we could also just set every morning at 9 so that anybody that is in Sturgis on dates other than ?Tue / Thur could meet for breakfast. I go to breakfast at the High School every morning I'm in /sturgis. Great place to meet other friends. Hope to see you there.
bj66 Posted July 19, 2012 #13 Posted July 19, 2012 I plan on coming out the friday before it starts (the 3rd). Not sure how long I will stay, usually weds or thursday. Still staying at Iron Horse Campground. Its pretty quiet, with CLEAN bathrooms and showers. Only downfall is not alot of shade trees.
frodotoo Posted July 24, 2012 #14 Posted July 24, 2012 First timer at Sturgis Bike Rally for me. My first post on this board as well. I'll be in Sturgis Aug 7-10 and am looking forward to the experience as well as meeting other VR members. I am a newly minted VR member as well as new RSMV owner as well. I traded my Suzuki Boulevard C50T for my '05 Midnight Venture 3 wks ago and love it (though the top heavy nature of the bike is taking some getting used to)!! Traveling to Colorado Springs from WI to visit a friend before driving up on the 7th. I'm too new of a VR to have a T-shirt yet, have to figure that out!!

Guest tx2sturgis Posted July 30, 2012 #17 Posted July 30, 2012 All un-escorted, single, attractive, 21-55 year old biker babes are welcome to camp with us at Glencoe. I wonder how many un-escorted, single, attractive 21-55 year old biker babes read this particular thread? Oh well, couldnt hurt.
Phoneman1981 Posted July 30, 2012 #18 Posted July 30, 2012 Hello: Leaving early on the 3rd. Patrolman46 and I along with the Grandson are traveling to the Saratoga WY area Friday, hope to be there by noon. Staying the afternoon and night and leaving the Grandson behind early Saturday morning. Heading back over to Laramie via 130 then north through Sybille Canyon back over to Wheatland area and then north over to Newcastle? Not just sure what way we will actually take. Our wives are riding up in a cage to meet us on Saturday evening. Staying all week in Sturgis. Our apartment is easy to find. Look forward to meeting everyone. Safe Travels to all.

bj66 Posted August 9, 2012 #24 Posted August 9, 2012 I just got home from Sturgis, had to come home early. Breakfast was a great idea. I hope you had a good turn out again this morning. And Brian you had some good pics, but I got to thinking. How come the ony bike shown was a Harley Davidson? After all this is a Yamaha site. One other observation...."Note to self......orange shirts make you look like a big pumpkin!" Time for me to go on a diet!!!!!
Guest tx2sturgis Posted August 11, 2012 #25 Posted August 11, 2012 I am in Sydney tonite, tapping on the iPad. Yeah it never occurred to me to take a pic of the bikes, since it was more about the people....oh well...there is always next year...it was fun meeting you guys...
