As always, some great input and thanks to the folks with ideas of where to go and roads to take. We plan to watch the fireworks in Bar Harbor and sitting high to view it, sounds just about right.

I love that photo with the dog house on the trailer.

About the question of the trailer or not, we do not have a trailer, but I think we need one.

Ron seems to be against it. I know when we went out to Sturgis we packed as light as possible, but it would have been easier on him and his knees if we had had one.

I pull a HF trailer when me and wife do a week and need "our stuff".

But for long weekends this “cooler rack” avoids the trailer and keeps the weight off high.

We’ve gone all through the Smokies and it does fine in the twisties.

It’s a Rivco cooler rack with added light mount ( bright Harbor Frt LED trailer lights) and ring bolts for bungees .

If you don’t do the lights, your cargo will likely hide your bike lights. The lights plug in just like the trailer. I had a fab shop bend the mount from a sheet of stainless.

With the Kuryakyn bag it's about 25-30 lbs.

Oh, or carries two good sized watermelons to a picnic.

But, yes you don't want to put more weight than that.

Some people who have seen it say, “Hey, I can make one of those!”. Good idea as I have about $240 in it, between $170 for the rack, lights $40, fab & hardware $30. But it sure is handy.
