It is always a bad thing to go down, and break bones, pride, and the bike. But what a perfect excuse to upgrade to a 2nd generation Venture, eh?

BRIAN...don't let the pain meds cause you to do something you would regret in a non-drug induced state ! Just remember.... alcohol can make the ugliest girl look like a 10 at 2am... and pain meds can make a 2nd Gen look tempting in a blurred state of mind. We will find you another clean 1st Gen.... in fact you have a back up waiting at home..:detective:

Remember... and say it over and over.... 2nd Gens are just wanna-be 1st Gens... :happy65:

Brian, so sorry to hear of your accident ... but at least I'm hearing about it from you!

Strange how things go eh? as you'd once planned to come to Nelson for the KK rally. However, keep your spirits up and heal soon and maybe we'll see you next year.

So glad your here to talk about it, take it easy and heal fast, and do what the Dr. tells you too. The scooter can be replaced...

Take care and God speed!

Went down near Tonopah NV. last Tuesday 19th of June. I lost control of the VR. Broken right ribs, right collar bone, left hand and wrist. some rear road rash. no head, neck, back nor leg injuries. Oh ya, right lung punchured.

My beautiful 91 VR with 9200 miles is totaled.

Hand & wrist surgury done. I should be getting out of the UMC, Las Vegas in 2 days.

Vacation started great on sat 16th june, ride down from Buckley Wa.

Leaving Las Vegas monday morning for Vacaville where my daughter is an RN, Will spend a a few weeks there to heal up before taking the drive back to Buckley.

Looking for ideas to get the highest value for my 91 VR, It was like it just rode off the show room floor. It was that nice.

I just got off the phone with Brian, and from what we can figure out he drifted on to the shoulder road a tad, over corrected, and got into a tank slapper, and high sided. He ended up on the other side of the road from the bike. He was out there by himself, but an on coming car stopped to help out within minutes. They called 911 for an ambulance and it took him to a hospital in Tonopah, stabilized him, and he then was life flighted him down to Las Vegas in a fixed wing plane. His wife and sister-in-law are both with him in LV as that's where they were headed for their vacation. Brian was riding down, they drove. They'll be driving back up to Vacaville next Monday or Tuesday, and will spend a few days there recouperating.

The bike is in a salve yard in Vegas, and I guess it's toast. There were some nice additions to it, and in mint condition when the accident occured. According to Brian there isn't any plastic left. The saddles are the only things intack but pretty chewed up.

You call that an upgrade???? :confused07: One of the instances where newer doesn't necessarily mean better.

Hope you heal well and quickly.

Brian. My first thought was you have got to be kidding. My second was OMG I hope you come through this ok. Your bike was gorgeous. One of the nicest Ventures I have ever seen. But you are far more valuable. Get well, get healed and remember you have friends here. Do you need someone to drive down to Vegas to bring you back? Call if I can help in any way.

Ive not seen the actural bike. but here are some pictures,

It will be awhile before I handle the title over, for the title is in Buckley WA. So if there are any members that might be interested in the VR,

i'll get the name and address soon, and post. someone might be able to get it cheap from the salvage yard when the time comes.

So sad to see the bike broke up so bad, but glad you are still around to talk about it. It could have ended up much worse. Best wishes!!

Brian,

Your here to tell the story, and really, thats all that matters. I totalled out a '99 with my wife on the back, not a good time, but we survived. I wish you all the best in a speedy recovery, dont push it, our bodies once were past 40 do not like to be pushed to heal fast.

Your question on your bike about the value, as beautiful as it was, your probably only looking at $4200. I dont say that with any malice, but any 1st gen venture, in this day and age isn't worth more than $4500 in a practical way. They are worth much more to us, but market wise, not so much I'm afraid. I hope that didn't ruffly you up, it was just what I honestly believe it's probably worth....:2cents:

Glad to hear you're still around after a nasty fall like that. Losing a beautiful bike is no fun but being around to talk about it is a definite plus.

I fought for over 2 yrs to get 3,000 for my 83. Don't let up on them. They started out offering me 700. I told him to get out of the room before I beat him with my crutches. He left??

Yes, rule number 1 in insurance claims, NEVER take the first offer!! that pretty much applies to the second offer as well. The longer the claim drags on, the more interested the insurance companies are in settling the matter, especially when they have to pay storage fees for the property while they are settling...

Heal well and fast my friend, looks like you have a wonderful family who needs you healthy!!

Glad you are on here. Now take it easy and listen to the Docs. They do know what they are talking about...sometimes. Not listening put me under the knife a extra trip. Not fun at all. Hope you heal fast and good.
