Is there a way to tell the exact year from the VIN ?

 

 

A 1983 VIN will be JYA26H00(x)DA(xxxxxx) Standard, or JYA31M00(x)DA(xxxxxx) Royale.

A 1983½ VIN will be JYA47R00(x)DA(xxxxxx) Standard or JYA47T00(x)DA(xxxxxx) Royale.

A 1984 VIN will be JYA41R00(x)EA(xxxxxx) Standard or JYA41V00(x)EA(xxxxxx) Royale.

A 1985 VIN will be JYA59J00(x)FA(xxxxxx)

A 1986 VIN will be JYA1NL00(x)GA(xxxxxx)

etc.

 

Bill, I am collecting VIN of all First Generation Ventures. If you wouldn't mind, could you PM the VINs of all your Ventures? Thanks.

I currently have 148 Venture VIN in my registry. Fifty-five are 1983s.

I will also get you the VIN's off of IronHorse Ike's 83 & 84.

The main difference is that the 83 does not have the clock in the bottom screen and the is just one LCD screen where as the others have the clock in them and have 2 LCD screens. Hope that helps.

Well I thought I had two 83 parts bikes, but from the VIN numbers, it looks like they are both 84's. I pulled the dash off of the one, and it doesn't match the picture in the prior post.
