a1bummer Posted June 25, 2012 #12 Posted June 25, 2012 86 is different than and 83. If I remember right, the 83 is different than all the rest, and then 84-85 different still than 86-93 due to cruise control I believe. But then I'm betting there are some exceptions due to how the bike is equipt. If I'm wrong, please let me know. I know I have one here somewhere, I'll look after work this evening and get back to ya. Its in the basement somewhere. I gave the rest of it away already. I have and 84 and it won't work on it. Bill
bongobobny Posted June 25, 2012 #13 Posted June 25, 2012 Yup! '83 will only work on '83. Different shape and size on the '84 up...
Marcarl Posted June 25, 2012 #14 Posted June 25, 2012 How can one tell if it's from an 83,, I have one here but not sure of the year.
KIC Posted June 25, 2012 #15 Posted June 25, 2012 I will try to get over to where my parts bikes are. My purple one has part of the dash still on it. I believe it is an 83. Is there a way to tell the exact year from the VIN ?
Keemez Posted June 25, 2012 #17 Posted June 25, 2012 Is there a way to tell the exact year from the VIN ? Yep: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Number#Model_year_encoding
Marcarl Posted June 25, 2012 #18 Posted June 25, 2012 I have one that has 30120 on it, I think it's an 83?
DragonRider Posted June 25, 2012 Author #19 Posted June 25, 2012 Why couldnt these be simple......................Yammer this is the part # from one of the sites I checked 26H-W8351-M000. :bang head:
mm482 Posted June 25, 2012 #20 Posted June 25, 2012 The part # on the one off the 86 is 41R-M15Y9. It has two elt. connectors, one has 9 flat blade connectors (5 on the top row and 4 on the bottom row). The other connector has 14 small round pins (7 on top row and 7 on bottom row) Earl
