54chevybelair Posted June 24, 2012 #1 Posted June 24, 2012 I had to find a way to have my son enjoy this sport with me, and this was my solution. I just got it installed and still need to wire it before I can hit the road. I have road it around the neighborhood and in an empty parking lot. It is very different but kinda fun. I still have a lot to learn but I am getting there.
Phoneman1981 Posted June 24, 2012 #2 Posted June 24, 2012 Very Nice!!!! Hope it provides the enjoyment you are hoping for.
Carbon_One Posted June 24, 2012 #3 Posted June 24, 2012 That's cool. What make rig did you get there? Larry
54chevybelair Posted June 24, 2012 Author #4 Posted June 24, 2012 It's made by Champion sidecar and the model is Escort.
alwrmcusn Posted June 27, 2012 #7 Posted June 27, 2012 Looks great! I'm still getting used to my trike conversion. It does take some time to overcome all those years of "2" and now trying to learn "3"!!
Pegasus1300 Posted June 27, 2012 #8 Posted June 27, 2012 Great looking rig.Just beware of right hand turns:)
MJ44 Posted July 2, 2012 #10 Posted July 2, 2012 Looks great! Have fun and check out sidecar.com There are several books to download with information on driving a hack. If you haven't thought about it, I just love my triple tree modification from http://www.sidecars.ca/ It has made driving a joy! Mary Jo
saddlebum Posted July 2, 2012 #12 Posted July 2, 2012 I have been giving it some thought myself, now that I have three Grand Children plus the fact that my dog Jake has to stay home a lot in the summer, where as normally when driving the truck, he usually goes everywhere with me, providing he does not have to sit and wait in a hot vehicle. The trouble is I would want a second bike for this and my wife would not a give into this easily. I have driven a hack before (a friend of mine having owned a Russian bike with side car) and it is a different ride sensation.

With 3 little ones, you may want to consider putting another hack on the other side Just trying to help you
BuckShot Posted July 2, 2012 #14 Posted July 2, 2012 Once you get used to it, you will like it. Done that years ago so I could take the son and daughter with us. Hooked the cargo trailer up loaded for camping and away we went. They both ride their own bikes now.
OB-1 Posted July 2, 2012 #15 Posted July 2, 2012 I had to find a way to have my son enjoy this sport with me, and this was my solution. I still have a lot to learn but I am getting there. I had one that looked very similar to yours back in the early 80's when my kids were little. They are a different ride for sure. You can change the rake of the front forks to make steering easier, but only if the side hack is a permanent attachment. Also, some side hack rigs will allow you to trim the lean angle while in motion. This is great on roads with a significant crown. Your arms and shoulders will likely become stronger as you get accustomed to the new ride.
