Miles Posted June 25, 2012 Author #26 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) So not only did I insult Miles...but I highjacked the thread! Was the 2 nitro tanks for bursts of speed (how fast?) or does it add mpg? (is so how much)? Trader, my use of the 2 nitro bottles was more for the fun of it, than anything really needed. When riding a GL-1500, and knowing that K1100LT's and K1100RS's and ST1100's can go faster than you, sometimes it is a real hoot to sneak up behind one of them, out in the blackness of the desert, and when you have a good rolling speed coming on, you hit the nitrous button for about 3 to 4 seconds, which gives the bike about 10 to 12 seconds of additional boost, just as you are passing that bike that can usually go a lot faster than you can. When the other rider sees that an old school Goldwing 1500 has just past then, it really startles them, and they have to look down at their speedo to see if they are standing still, or what? It is quite a shock to their system the first time it happens. After a few times, they know to look out for that Black Wing...riding along in stealth mode, in the darkness of the Blackrock Desert. Dave77459 Posted June 28, 2012 #27 Posted June 28, 2012 ...As you can see by the pictures, I ride a solo bike. In place of the rear seat is a leather rear fender bib, and on top of that is the Yamaha rear fender rack (in place of the rear seat. On top of that rack...I mount a 10" x 18" aluminum rack I got from Aerostich. Then I mounted the Saddlemen bag onto that aluminum rack... I cannot find the rear luggage rack that sits in lieu of the passenger seat. Can you send me a part number or source? Dave
Miles Posted June 29, 2012 Author #28 Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) Dave77459, you may want to contact GeorgeS on this forum, he too lives in Washington state (all the great riders do) (again, ha ha ha ha ha). GeorgeS believes he may have found a dealer that has a couple of these racks in their warehouse. When I bought mine, I found it had been discontinued, no longer listed in any of the Yamaha accessories pages, and that no one had any available. One dealer in Tucson told me they had three of them. Their computer said so...BS...so I asked the guy to go get his hands on one of them. Turns out they had none, as they were all sold years ago, and the computer system was out of date. I finally found the one I have now from a Las Vegas dealer, their last one, yes they really had it, and when I received it, I immediately saw that it was a used one that someone had mounted, and then returned. Thats okay...it works for me. Maybe GeorgeS can help you find one. Edited October 21, 2012 by Miles
