Mean Dog Posted January 13, 2008 #1 Posted January 13, 2008 Well Folks I have been talking with Nancy about the purchasing of a set of training wheels for our bike! Due to my loss of strength from Chemo treatments and also in consideration of Squidley's accident while visiting here, I feel it would be a good investment. I spoke with Frog Man on the phone last night to get his imput on the Voyager Kit (Thank You) and I believe that is the way I will go. It seems a little expensive for what you get but what isn't for our favorite sport! I can always remove it if I get to ever feeling better. I would love to make more rides and and meets this year and I believe this would make that possible. I know it would ease Nancy's mind as she is afraid I will be out and drop the bike! I don't suppose I will be able to purchase a used one anywhere so we will have to bite the bullet and get new! Just don't laugh when you see the Dog coming........... Mark
Sweetnothing Posted January 13, 2008 #2 Posted January 13, 2008 mark, we would never laugh at you!! as long as you are riding with us.....thats all that counts!! and brad and i want that opportunity!! i think it would be a good idea for you. and like you say, when you get better, it can be removed, if you want to! i think you, nancy, and all the rest of us would feel better, when you ride!
FROG MAN Posted January 13, 2008 #3 Posted January 13, 2008 Dog it was good talking to you last night. We got a good deal on our voyager. I bought the scoot, voyager, and trailer as a package deal ebay. Some here say I stole it. After our maiden voyage to florida last year and after 3000 miles of experience the voyager is great.I have two other first gens. Having a spare bike for the twisties and solo riding is a great benefit. My concern was if the voyager would get in and out of my driveway? No problems. Peace of mind is what the voyager is all about. For stability, pay load, towing, riding two up on those week long outings, braking control, etc makes it the first bike out. Now don't get me wrong my first love is a good first gen but I'm spoiled on the voyager for towing. I haven't let momamo ride it yet. Told her I wanted to check it out first to make sure it was safe for her. She is getting mad I've had it for 6 months.:rotf:
vicco27 Posted January 13, 2008 #4 Posted January 13, 2008 Mark I have a favorites marked ( Motor Trikes ) for Ebay that has listed used Voyager Kits in the past. I think there is one on there now. Good luck. .
Yammer Dan Posted January 13, 2008 #5 Posted January 13, 2008 Just be on the road Dog. Thats what it is about. It has taken me long enough to get back. I think this year I will be ready for some RIDING!!
Carbon_One Posted January 13, 2008 #6 Posted January 13, 2008 Dog it don't matter what you ride as long as you can ride. Myself I'm taking the trike route but that's a lot more expensive than the Voyager system. And no going back to 2 wheels either if you wanted to. Either set up will take some getting used to so take your time there. Bottom line is do what you need to do to keep riding if that's your wish. The rest will fall into place. Larry
Squidley Posted January 13, 2008 #7 Posted January 13, 2008 Mark, We'll just help make it happen, nothing to be worried about and I like the idea of the stability that it will give you. We'll just have to keep our eyes open and see what we can come up with so you 2 can join into more of the rides
muffinman Posted January 13, 2008 #8 Posted January 13, 2008 Check out the tow-pac insta trike it is the same thing but cheaper than the voyager. http://www.tow-pacinc.com/ Jeff
Squidley Posted January 13, 2008 #9 Posted January 13, 2008 I like that kit way better than the Voyager kit, it blends a bit more with the bike. That is a very nice setup
Mean Dog Posted January 13, 2008 Author #10 Posted January 13, 2008 Check out the tow-pac insta trike it is the same thing but cheaper than the voyager. http://www.tow-pacinc.com/ Jeff Jeff, I have ordered information on this set up too! Not so much because it is cheaper but it has adjustable torsion suspension. It is wider though and I have to see if it will fit in the shed with my door width. I have a dealer that will install the Voyager about 50 miles away but, it does lose 1 and 1/4" ground clearance with the Voyager kit and the Insta-trike fits into a receiver hitch with no ground clearance loss. I will try to get one or the other this February. Thanks for the info Jeff! Mark
Jerry M Posted January 13, 2008 #11 Posted January 13, 2008 Mark There is nothing wrong with riding a trike. That is what I did after having a stroke.I have put over 10,000 miles on it and like it more everytime I ride.Good luck Jerry M
DragonRider Posted January 13, 2008 #12 Posted January 13, 2008 I would be glad to ride with you anytime no matter what your riding............your family and thats whats counts. Keep us posted, I too like the towpac with the larger wheels and painted finish, looks much nicer than the Voyager kit............
Carbon_One Posted January 13, 2008 #13 Posted January 13, 2008 Mark don't forget to check out some side cars too. I was very close to ordering one of them rather than going with the tirke conversion. Same deal there as with the insta trikes kits. You can change them back anytime you see fit too. http://www.texassidecars.com/ http://www.texassidecars.com/yamaha.htm And other links - http://www.sidecar.com/stuff2.asp Anyhow whatever it takes to keep you rolling. Larry
sarges46 Posted January 13, 2008 #14 Posted January 13, 2008 I like that look of the towpac! And you're riding Mark...thats all that matters. That day will likely come for most of us if we want to continue to enjoy the wind. Me, I would suck it up and get the big chrome wheeled version...thats sharp!
Black Owl Posted January 13, 2008 #15 Posted January 13, 2008 That side kit is interesting..... Hummmmmmmmmmmmmm
Mean Dog Posted January 15, 2008 Author #16 Posted January 15, 2008 I believe I found what Nancy and I need! LOL [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SiCa-2FOf0]YouTube - V8 Trike. Back on the road (at last)[/ame] Dog
muffinman Posted January 15, 2008 #17 Posted January 15, 2008 All that motor and the thing is quiet. Go for it Dog Jeff
vicco27 Posted January 15, 2008 #18 Posted January 15, 2008 MEANDOG. My statement on the Ebay favorite was incorrect. It is just TRIKES and there is a used Voyager listed now with a buy it now price of $2.800 listed on the 14th. Good luck. .
Mean Dog Posted January 17, 2008 Author #19 Posted January 17, 2008 Well, it looks like I might have to locate a used Voyager unit. I have decided to use that one! I forgot when you are put out of work that lending companies don't like you anymore. http://www.ultimatemyspace.com/i/smilies/sick/sick0004.gif I have several months to locate one before the West Virginia trip to see Frog Man and up to see my folks. I'll get one on by then some how. Mark
vicco27 Posted January 17, 2008 #20 Posted January 17, 2008 MEANDOG. Keep your chin up and keep watching Ebay, I'm sure you will find one. Good Luck. vicco27
Tartan Terror Posted January 17, 2008 #21 Posted January 17, 2008 Hey Dog there is not shame in Trikes. Actually I feel its honorable as when most would just park it you take whatever actions you need to keep on riding! Get it and be proud.
