We lost one here in Utah when he ran into a mattress someone had not tied down and lost on the freeway. It was early evening and I guess he didn't see it in time. Going the speed limit and no alcohol but also no helmet. Head injuries.

Moped and I have often talked about situations like this happening. Often times we see pickup trucks filled with items that do not seem to be securely strapped down.

Especially people moving items like mattresses. Infact, we always pass this situations up quickly, just in case something flies out of the truck in front of us.

It is another hazard for us motorcyclists, but we just keep on riding.

Hate to hear that and our prayers go out to the family. We will be riding the skyway and the Dragon on Monday will have to be extra careful.

I was in my PU but I had to swerve around a sofabed in the center lane of I-35 in downtown Austin TX. At night I wouldn't of had time and would of hit it. Glad I wasn't on the bike.

My thoughts exactly Yama Mama. I do the same thing always. Since I work for the state HWY Dept. I pick up a lot of this stuff, and we do have a mind set of motorcyclist on the highways. I can not say this for all KY counties, but for Rowan county, we try our best. Also try to keep the gravel cleaned up that is spilled from dump trucks and also concrete from the concrete trucks. You would be surprised how many times we have to go out and clean concrete from the roadways.

Another thing that bothers me. The state and county law enforcement do not clean the roadways properly after an an accident in my area. I have also saw this in other states. Dangerous debris such as glass and car parts left on the right of away. This should never be allowed.

An earlier story I read said the kid has had four driving after suspension tickets, and two drug related charges previous to this sensless tragedy he caused.:buttkick:

We're riding carefully into Milwaukee tomorrow to see a really close friend that hit a deer on the way to work a few days ago and got leg and hip and ribs and elbow busted up really bad.:(

Be careful out there everyone, Scooter Bob and Karen
