SilvrT Posted June 7, 2012 #1 Posted June 7, 2012 I'm standing outside my building where I work, having a smoke and people watching. This is a highrise office tower, downtown Vancouver. It has this decorative "moat" of water that wraps around the front of the building, bordered by a small flower bed and concrete "bridges" to access the building. A courier guy comes out of the side door where I'm standing (no moat there) and walks towards the front of the building.... as he's walking, he's texting and obviously not paying attention .... misses the bridge and walks right into the moat! Gets out of the water, soaking wet ... and continues walking and texting!

Flyinfool Posted June 8, 2012 #4 Posted June 8, 2012 But he will be on the road and texting soon.......
chabicheka Posted June 8, 2012 #7 Posted June 8, 2012 That's what tecnology has done for our working kids...added a lot of stress to the working guy. now they are given computers and cell phones to carry around so the boss can keep pushing them constantly. i feel sorry for the kid. We were being lied to when all this technology was in the research mode, that technology was going to make our life easy and we may be working only 4 day per week etc and all kinds of taxpayers money was used by these corporations in the form of Reseach and Development grants. It sure worked...but not for the working sap. We have very short memories, and thus these crooks get away. Welcome to the stressful world of high unemployment and stressful low paying jobs... Boy am i glad i am retired...
Trader Posted June 8, 2012 #8 Posted June 8, 2012 It was on the news the other night that some places are considering banning texting and walking. People tend to walk into the street without looking....walk into doors etc. It showed a girl walking into a street sign !
Flyinfool Posted June 8, 2012 #9 Posted June 8, 2012 We had an 11 yo kid died here recently by walking right into a moving freight train. All phones capable of texting have a GPS built in. It would be very simple software to make the phone so that it can not text while moving.
Sailor Posted June 8, 2012 #10 Posted June 8, 2012 When I was in London England I could not believe it. Everyone there runs and they are all on at least one cellphone. I watched people run into light posts, fall down, get up and start running all without missing a word. I watched people run into each other, fall down, get up and start running all without a word to the other person. God help us.
