Grandpagak Posted January 13, 2008 #1 Posted January 13, 2008 today i looked at a different bike.. 96 kawasaki vulcan 1500. they want $4,998 for it .. i told them i would give them $5000 out the door.. but they are holding hard .. i told them that the offer holds til 2/1/ 08.. here are some pics.. it has 10,000 miles...
Grandpagak Posted January 13, 2008 Author #3 Posted January 13, 2008 the last one is one that i missed out on for 5000 dollars it is a 99 nomad 1600 ..
BuddyRich Posted January 13, 2008 #4 Posted January 13, 2008 Seems a little high to me. I had an 01 Nomad FI. I let it go for 6k in 05. The Nomads did not go to 1600 until 05 I think . Earlier models are 1500. They are ok but will seem like a dog compared to your 1st gen or a second gen.
Black Owl Posted January 13, 2008 #5 Posted January 13, 2008 Now that looks like it would be a real sweet ride. My only concern is that if you get it, will we need to change the name of the pig roast? Maybe Cows in the Country rather than Pork in the Pines...............
Yama Mama Posted January 13, 2008 #6 Posted January 13, 2008 Gary that looks like a very pretty Vulcan. I have friends you have one and they love it. Peggy
Grandpagak Posted January 13, 2008 Author #7 Posted January 13, 2008 i was thinking that i will keep my venture if i can .. but was lookin for something less top heavy for just around here..
Guest KitCarson Posted January 13, 2008 #8 Posted January 13, 2008 If you really want something that is not top heavy and is still somewhat comfortable, used for around town and day trips.......low center of balance and lots of get up and go....just an all around really good bike.......go find a decent used Honda 1100 Shadow.........it is also water cooled and shaft drive, sits low for the rider and is super balanced.......I used that one for the MFS instructors course....easy to push around.....easy to run the cones with, really is a super easy to handle bike. You can find them pretty easy too, some sit in a garage for several years......then go up for sale........Now the newer ones the Areo, and new shadow are different.......seat not near as low or comfortable........but up to I think 2000 are the same. Put a little tinted shorty windshield on it.........they are nice bikes.......look just like a Harley softtail..........
BEER30 Posted January 13, 2008 #9 Posted January 13, 2008 they want $4,998 for it .. i told them i would give them $5000 out the door.. but they are holding hard . $2.00 difference ......hum......you got yourself a real stealer there ! :rotf: BEER30
dray Posted January 13, 2008 #10 Posted January 13, 2008 good luck on the bike but i would have started at 3000.
nelsonrl Posted January 13, 2008 #11 Posted January 13, 2008 Good bikes - I rode a 2001 Nomad prior to my current ride. Sold it last year for 5K, so the price may be a bit high. It was a nice around town bike, but a little more top heavy than your would think.
pegscraper Posted January 13, 2008 #12 Posted January 13, 2008 And you guys make fun of us second genners for looking like HDs? They are nice looking bikes. I like them. But four cylinders beats two any day.
Grandpagak Posted January 13, 2008 Author #13 Posted January 13, 2008 $2.00 difference ......hum......you got yourself a real stealer there ! :rotf: BEER30 THATS $5,000 OUT THE DOOR, MEANING TAX AND LICENSE & TRANSFER TAX.. $ 335 LICENSE & TRANSFER $ 50.00 TOTAL.... $ 385.O0 THANKS FOR CATCHING THAT..
BEER30 Posted January 14, 2008 #14 Posted January 14, 2008 THATS $5,000 OUT THE DOOR, MEANING TAX AND LICENSE & TRANSFER TAX.. $ 335 LICENSE & TRANSFER $ 50.00 TOTAL.... $ 385.O0 THANKS FOR CATCHING THAT.. I kinda figured that , but I live in NC . You know ..the state that still ruled by King George ! :rotf: BEER30
cowpuc Posted January 14, 2008 #15 Posted January 14, 2008 Those Vulcans are really sharp scoots, indeed they are real tame compared to a 1st genner but hey,,, pretty hard to find something that isnt.. Nice choice Granpa!! On another note,, the Repo Lot down in GR had a RSV Midnight late last fall for 5k.. I went over, drueled over it some, got a battery jump on it and started it - sounded REAL GOOD.. The only flaw I can recall is there were several small scratches on top of the tank where it looked like someone had try to remove a tank bib.. The bike had a little over 5000 miles on it.. It is very possible that its still there.. If your interested the name of the place is West Michigan Creditors and they are on Remembrance drive in Walker (suburb of Grand Rapids).. May be worth a shout..... 'Puc
FairlaneDA Posted January 16, 2008 #16 Posted January 16, 2008 To bad you are up in MN. Might be selling my loaded 2000 Roadstar for 5K with 16K miles, got my eye on a new Raider S. Rode one at the fall bikeweek and really liked it. But will still keep the Venture for me and the wife.
Guest Popeye Posted January 16, 2008 #17 Posted January 16, 2008 FWIW, I recently passed on a 2003 Kaw Vulcan, 32k miles & no issues. It looked nice, many extras, but I wasn't willing to pay $5200. this time of year.
