KeithR Posted June 3, 2012 #1 Posted June 3, 2012 If anyone is in the market for a video camera to mount on your bike this is a good deal. Its not HD but does a pretty good job. Keith http://www.visions.ca/catalogue/category/Details.aspx?categoryId=683&productId=7107&sku=X170
Snaggletooth Posted June 3, 2012 #2 Posted June 3, 2012 Can't beat that! I bought the HD 170 a while back and it does a great job. I don't have the computer power to edit the HD stuff so everything is done in the 720 setting and still goods good. Good starter camera at that price. Mike
SilvrT Posted June 3, 2012 #3 Posted June 3, 2012 It appears that it uses 2 "AA" batteries ... yes/no?
Bob Myers Posted June 3, 2012 #4 Posted June 3, 2012 Reading the description/accesories for it there is a 12v adaptor to charge it, does this mean it may run on the 12v as well?
friesman Posted June 3, 2012 #5 Posted June 3, 2012 It appears that it uses 2 "AA" batteries ... yes/no? I have the 170HD and mine uses the square litihum battery, and you can get an adapter to 12 volt, but its kinda awkward as you have to open the back hatch andthe fit a new cap over the opening. Brian
KeithR Posted June 3, 2012 Author #6 Posted June 3, 2012 Yep it runs on 2 x AA's.....last a fair amount of time......and you can also get the 12V cord etc. I use a 16G SD card with no problems. Keith
Snaggletooth Posted June 3, 2012 #7 Posted June 3, 2012 This is the manual for the X170 to help answers questions. Mike
Bob Myers Posted June 4, 2012 #8 Posted June 4, 2012 Just tried to buy one, no such luck. their website is not setup to allow shipping to the US. Guess I'll have to call them tomorrow!
KIC Posted June 4, 2012 #9 Posted June 4, 2012 Bob.. my zip wasn't accepted either. Let us know what they say about shipping. Bill
Bob Myers Posted June 4, 2012 #10 Posted June 4, 2012 I called and the girl who answered said they "Do not accept any orders from the US", nor do they accept any telephone orders. Looks like some one from Canada would have to buy and ship these to us.

spear Posted June 5, 2012 #16 Posted June 5, 2012 I bought one of these. $30. Fantastic unit. Light as a feather and only needs a 1/4" whitworth bolt to mount it on your handle bars. Has its own battery or you can run it from 12V or USB (I run both on my RSV). I have a 32GB Class 10 SDHC card loaded in it for six hours of HD video recording. Don't be fooled by the low, low price. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130682004135?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Snaggletooth Posted June 6, 2012 #18 Posted June 6, 2012 I got an update from eBay this morning that a X170 was newly listed for a BIN of $70.00. Before I could post anything on it, it was sold. That didn't last long. But I did pick up something I hadn't seen before. One of my concerns with mounting my 170 HD down on the crash bar and even exposed up on the fairing was the possibility of damage to the lens from road debris. This should take care of that. Don't need to end up like the first pic. Mike
XV1100SE Posted June 7, 2012 #19 Posted June 7, 2012 Price on the Visons web site is now $128. Drift site doesn't show it under products and another vendor search shows that model is discontinued.
Celt Posted June 22, 2012 #20 Posted June 22, 2012 these cameras are back on sale for $98 bucks again ,till the 27th .
