GolfVenture Posted June 2, 2012 #1 Posted June 2, 2012 Anyone know what the best way to fix the cracking of the vinyl from spreading? Also if anyone would rather have a brown backrest instead of a gray or black, in similar nice conditon and interested in a trade of some sort. The rest of the backrest is in excellect conditon. My 91 VR upholestry is the medium gray color.
JohnMidnight Posted June 2, 2012 #2 Posted June 2, 2012 The material on my VR and most of the VR's I've had the pleasure of seeing, is that they're vinyl, so any care and maintenance lubricants for vinyl should work. I use armourall on my seat, and backing. Works well, granted it does not stop my arse from ripping the vinyl from the thread Though after LOOKING at the picture, I'd recommend applying a protective coat too, to make sure water doesn't get in by chance.
Guest scarylarry Posted June 2, 2012 #3 Posted June 2, 2012 This is what I use, never used the sprayed type you will see the dirt on the wipe and doesn't leave a heavy flim.. http://ts3.mm.bing.net/thumb/get?bid=TAHe81QUO4n2kQ&bn=CC&fbid=7wIR63%2bClmj%2b0A&fbn=CC
tz89 Posted June 2, 2012 #4 Posted June 2, 2012 I use Aerospace Protectant 303 on a microfiber rag and rub it in. Seat looks like new, and is not slippery.
GolfVenture Posted June 2, 2012 Author #5 Posted June 2, 2012 Are there any kind of filler or glue to keep it from lifting more then I could use the vinyle/leather care.
Guest scarylarry Posted June 2, 2012 #6 Posted June 2, 2012 upholster shop might be your best bet, they can sometimes do repairs without replacing the cover.. Outside of that I wouldn't know maybe someone else would..
MikeWa Posted June 2, 2012 #7 Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) Stop by the auto parts store and pick up a vinyl repair kit. After the repair use some sealer on the seat. Some brands work better than others. So get something you are comfortable with. bjstone Posted June 2, 2012 #8 Posted June 2, 2012 I'm old school. Saddle soap works well as a preventative. Doesn't make the seat slick like armor all will.
