Bobby G Posted June 1, 2012 #1 Posted June 1, 2012 I've checked the Classifieds, and didn't find anything there, but does anyone know of a good site to check for replacement lower wind deflectors? On my recent trip to DC, one of the brackets broke and I lost one somewhere along the line, and need to replace it, but given the condition of the other one, I figure I'd replace both. I can get the replacement mounting bracket fairly cheap from Yamaha, but the deflectors are a little pricy. Thanks.
ragtop69gs Posted June 1, 2012 #2 Posted June 1, 2012 I think it was Buddy Rich that sells replacement plastic for the deflectors.
MikeWa Posted June 1, 2012 #3 Posted June 1, 2012 At one time someone on this site was selling a stainless steel replacement. Now if I could just remember who. Mike
darthandy Posted June 1, 2012 #4 Posted June 1, 2012 At one time someone on this site was selling a stainless steel replacement. Now if I could just remember who. Mike That was Ruffy. They were polished aluminum rather than steel, but the friend who had made them was back to his regular job and wasn't making any more of them. You could get these brackets which are said to last forever: http://www.diamondraccessories.com/yamaha/proddisplay.php?name=Fork%20Deflector%20Brackets or read V7GOOSE's post on how to modify the bumpers on the stock brackets so that they won't break again: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42697&highlight=aluminum+fork+deflector Don't know of a cheaper source for the deflector itself, though. Good luck. Andy
Monty Posted June 2, 2012 #5 Posted June 2, 2012 I've always figured, if I live in the south and I need to deflect the wind, then I might as well get in the car. I ride because of the wind!!
djh3 Posted June 3, 2012 #7 Posted June 3, 2012 I'm confused. Are you needing the metal bracket part of the lexan/plastic part? If its just the lexan you can buy a piece from home depot or lowes and cut it out yourself.
Bobby G Posted June 4, 2012 Author #8 Posted June 4, 2012 Thanks for the comments. I really don't need the deflectors now, but they are great in the colder weather. I think I'll go ahead and get the DiamondR replacement brackets and make my own deflectors, as suggested. Seems to be the most practical and economic solution.
