I purchased a 2004 RSV in the Fall of 2007 and just recently joined this forum. I am planning some add ons for the bike to prepare for two up riding once the Canadian winter leaves.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations around any solid wireless communications options? Something that both riders could listen to an ipod/communicate/ and know if the cell was ringing? Any luck with Bluetooth? Thought I might try this before buying wired technology. Appreciate any advice

There are a couple of Bluetooth options out there right now but every test I've read on them has pretty much been the same....not yet ready for prime time and WAY too expensive at this time. Another thing that bothers me as that most "real world" tests have shown that battery life can be as little as 4 hours. That is nowhere near enough for most of us who really ride. I've spent many 12 hour days in the saddle.

Here is one link to get you started.

I have a mp3 player that I put in a little pouch behind my back rest. Got a adapter from Radio Shack that lets us run two sets ear pieces so both myself and passenger can listen to tunes.:080402gudl_prv:

Since you guys are talking wireless, I bought my wife an ipod nano for christmas and I got the fm transmitter for her car, plugs into powerport and sends signal to her radio and plays thru her soundsystem, any reason why this wouldnt work on bike? Guess I would just need a power port. I guess the sound wouldnt be as good as earplugs, but I aint crazy about those earplugs while riding. Craig

The best solution that I have found is a Zumo 550 GPS with MP3, bluetooth and XM capabilities. In addition to a very good gps, with a microphone cable and a connection to the bike's audio aux input you get MP3 to both rider and passenger and when my cell phone rings it will sound in the headset and a caller ID will show on the GPS display. You can choose to answer or ignore the call. On my system the passenger can hear the phone conversation but can not speak. Others hear have stated that their passenger can talk on the phone also. The 550 is a little pricey but I think it is worth the extra money. You can also spend a little more and add the XM adapter.
