Wizard765 Posted May 23, 2012 Share #1 Posted May 23, 2012 Just wondering if the TCI from and 84 is interchangeable with one from an 88?
skydoc_17 Posted May 23, 2012 Share #2 Posted May 23, 2012 Hey Wayne, The 83'VR TCI is a stand alone unit. The 84' to 89' TCI units are the same. The 90' to 93' units are the same, (but different from the 83' and 84' to 89' units) I hope this helps. Earl

bongobobny Posted May 24, 2012 Share #4 Posted May 24, 2012 Well, they are not EXACTLY the same but are interchangeable. There is an ever so slight difference in the response curve from the 1200 engine and the 1300 engine but you will be hard pressed to notice any difference, maybe about a .01% difference in fuel economy and throttle response... I think he's trying to find easier ways to keep up with a certain 85, maybe a slower curve WILL help out, ya think?

Wizard765 Posted May 24, 2012 Author Share #7 Posted May 24, 2012 Ha Ha Ha.... Actually it isn't for me. I have a friend (Brian) that has an 88 and at the moment running like crap. Missing on one cylinder etc. He also has an 84 he is going to part out.. Was just thinking if the problem was the TCI he has a spare.. Brian isn't on the site and I have my doubts about him joining because he doesn't do computers at all. He has been to Marcarl's Venture Inn and met some folks.. dingy Posted May 24, 2012 Share #8 Posted May 24, 2012 Check & clean the pickup coils to main harness connector. Located near shock damper. 6 pin connector with 5 wires in it. Gary
