Marcarl Posted May 23, 2012 #3 Posted May 23, 2012 Maybe you could tell us why you think you need new carbs,,,, we might be able to save you the carb costs and a lot of aggravation,,,, f o r,,,,,,, unless they are brand new in a box, you might be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

tazmocycle Posted May 27, 2012 #10 Posted May 27, 2012 i have 2 sets of carbs for the 96-01 royal stars. 1 set is stock and the other has been rejetted for more air and fuel by opening up the airbox which i have a couple of airboxs too. really didn't want to sell but another guy needs 1 carb as he broke the mount for the float off his. i live near birmingham, al and may have a maintance day a little later in year. i had 1 a couple of years ago at columbus, ms and had about 10 guys show up and did a couple of carb tune-up and syncs. i have another member i went to his house last sunday and helped him on his but he still has crap in the carbs and need to reclean them. he's about ready to give up but the bike wasn't taken care of and left setting up for awhile. we stopped the gas from coming out of the overflow but when we was checking the float level the gas was coming out of the stop screws on the bottom of bowl. lot of folks forget about them when cleaning them up. if you can soak them in some cleaner for a day it'll help get the gunk off. sea foam will do a good job too just cover it up with a plastic bag to keep it from evoperate, use a still or tooth brush to clean them. if you don't think you can do it, you can wait after don's md and i'll try to get over and help you.
pmelah Posted May 28, 2012 Author #11 Posted May 28, 2012 i think i was about to make a big no no and buy a galon of seafoam and drop all 4 carbs together in it then i was reminded of the sensor when i put it in a 5 gal. bucket to see how well it fits
pmelah Posted June 3, 2012 Author #12 Posted June 3, 2012 ok i got the carbs pulled apart 1 at a time i have one vacume piston sticking and the manual states to replace it the diaphram looks good so i lubed the piston and the walls with prolong engine treatment now they are not sticking as i just cant see spending 133.00 ea. so im doing all 4 i will post pics later i did find a lot of white lithium grease on everything that did not seem right
pmelah Posted June 3, 2012 Author #13 Posted June 3, 2012 ok i have a seriouse problem an idiot friend of mine stuck silicone in the drian plug hole on the carb bowls all 4 of them he managed to strip out the head of 8 screw heads and boke a brass piece in the carb that i did manage to get the bowls off but the bowls are not looking to good not with the silicone in them the drain plug screw must be in bad shape which leads me to think the bowls are messed up bad they do look like they were ate up by a bad corrosive
pmelah Posted June 3, 2012 Author #14 Posted June 3, 2012 this was a test i finaly figured it out how to post pics
