bigworm Posted May 22, 2012 #1 Posted May 22, 2012 i am getting ready to change front tire and tighten up head bearings but not really sure how to jack it up safely .please help:confused07:
OB-1 Posted May 22, 2012 #2 Posted May 22, 2012 You need one of these: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3729&title=carbon-one-freestanding-lift-adapter&cat=24 It's the best money you'll spend for working on your bike. Ventures will not fit a standard bike/ATV jack without blocks. The problem with blocks is they can shift, slip, and pop out, plus the bike never is very stable. The Carbon-One adapter makes the Venture rock steady on the typical bike jack and the optional legs allow you to remove the jack. It's a really nice, easy and safe way to jack up these heavy bikes.
RedRider Posted May 22, 2012 #5 Posted May 22, 2012 Get the one with the legs. This allows you to remove the jack so it doesn't get in your way. VERY stable. Best money you will spend for this bike (with the exception of gasoline). RR
hunter 1500 Posted May 22, 2012 #6 Posted May 22, 2012 Yup I have to agree it is a great tool when jacking up your bike.
Pegasus1300 Posted May 22, 2012 #7 Posted May 22, 2012 The legs are worthwhile as if you are doing anything on the engine the jack does get in the way. BTW now that we have answered your question and provided you with good technical advice maybe you will consider changing your trial member status to supporting member. There is a wealth of ongoing technical developement here not to mention the very fine friendships.Worth every penny of the $12.00
Dano Posted May 22, 2012 #8 Posted May 22, 2012 Hmmm, no one brought it up, but those fit on a second gen only, the poster didn't say 1st or 2nd gen he owns....... Lets hope he owns a 2nd gen!!
OB-1 Posted May 22, 2012 #9 Posted May 22, 2012 Hmmm, no one brought it up, but those fit on a second gen only, the poster didn't say 1st or 2nd gen he owns....... Lets hope he owns a 2nd gen!! Well, he didn't say he was working on an antique so we naturally assumed he is working on a 2nd Gen or variation thereof!:rotf:
