AM/FM/CB Unit intermittent

Have a 2006 Midnight, the control head for audio will sometimes not turn on, will randomly shut itself off or will sporadically change channels. Anyone else have this issue or have experience?

 

Should the controller be replaced or is there maybe a "cheap" fix? It started about a month after warranty went out, and local Yamaha dealer said nothing they could do - for a long while I dealt with it, but it is getting more and more "ghostly" acting over the last month.

just because... Mine did that just before my battery dead. But it could be part of the issue, or none at all.

new battery in February, given the onset and progression of malfunction, reasonably sure battery is not the issue, thanks though

Contacts/connectors behind the fairing. Put dielectric on all of them.

mine was doing the same thing when i first got it. After a couple of weeks it just cleared up! Don't know what was going on with it.

Dito on the contacts. Also the connectors are sometimes attached (wire tied) so the connections are stressed by their own weight. So pay attention to if the wire ties are above or below the connector.

Had that problem on my 1st gen turned out that the ingnition switch screws were loose. Switch would wooble a little when turning on and off. Good luck
