miller47 Posted May 18, 2012 #1 Posted May 18, 2012 This is what my front tire looked like after coming back from Leakey. Thankfully we were able to make to home with no problem.
ACE50 Posted May 18, 2012 #6 Posted May 18, 2012 What kind of tire is that? I know it's not a metzler or dunflop.
Sleeperhawk Posted May 18, 2012 #7 Posted May 18, 2012 I would say Avon or an E3, both have similar tread patterns. But that tire was ready to be replaced anyway with the wear bars showing.
etcswjoe Posted May 18, 2012 #8 Posted May 18, 2012 Looks like an Avon. Did you hit something or just a bad tire?
PBJ Posted May 18, 2012 #9 Posted May 18, 2012 Looks like internal damage like busted cords on the inside. go over any big pot holes? Contact the manufacturer with the mileage you estimate on the tire. They may be interested in seeing it and give you a new tire if you cut out the damaged part and send it to them. Continental sent me a set of tires once when i bought tires from Dennis Kirk that were 8 years old when they sold them to me. they would pass inspection in the spring when I had put them on the previous September. That's when i learned about the tires date code. Anyway can't hurt to contact and ask.
miller47 Posted May 19, 2012 Author #11 Posted May 19, 2012 they're E3's with about 14000 miles, and I was trying to remember if i've hit anything but, can't. I was thinking maybe bad bead that let air inbetween rubber
