Condor Posted January 9, 2008 #1 Posted January 9, 2008 Saw this link on another board and thought folks here would like it as much as I did. http://www.jockeyjournal.com/?p=235
dynodon Posted January 9, 2008 #2 Posted January 9, 2008 212 KPH computes to about 131 mph. ON WOOD! I want to know how smooth that surface was and how many splinters you got if you fell! Also, look how all those people were piled up in the pit area with no protection or wall. Scary compared to today. Thanks for posting that.
Eck Posted January 10, 2008 #3 Posted January 10, 2008 Pretty cool movie...clear too for such an old one.. I didnt notice one woman through out the whole movie... Whats up?. Were women not allowed to go to the race track back then?

mbrood Posted January 10, 2008 #5 Posted January 10, 2008 no brakes and SUPER thin tires... The rubber back then was NOT very good... So if the guy ahead of you blew a tire and laid it down... you could just try and pick a spot for your first bounce... This was OUTSIDE, so you KNOW the boards were warping and weathering. These guys USED their leathers! And did anybody notice the trendy helmets? These were men of steel.
