Yesterday I got ambitous after I got home from work, and went to working on the Venture out in the shop. I have ow got all the engine covers in place, shift linkage installed, carbs mounted and hooked up to the cables. One question, I am getting rid of the Yics chamber. I didnt have any vacum caps to put on the tubes coming out of the engine. I just the rubber hoses down and used them to cap of the tubes by connecting them to the one next to it. I read a post here somewhere where someone else did the same thing, my question is should the be connected to the cyl beside it or the opposing cyl. or does it really matter. Also I cant find the wire leads where the neutral swithch and the oil pressure/level wire plugs in to the system, where can I find the leads that they plug into..................I have looked and looked but cant find them and dont remember where they should be.:confused24::confused24:

Hey Rider, good job getting back on the bike, if you connect the vacuum ports together (front to back, a SMALLER V-boost setup...), you still have to get the "vacuum sensor" hooked up on the front left cylinder (#2) for the bike to run right.

Tying the cylinders together the way you want isn't worth it, been done before this way and don't work that well..... better to pick up 1/8" plugs with little clamps to hold them on, if not you gotta have a "T" on the left side one to hookup the "sensor" I talked about, so there's still a "trip to da store" involved.....

You'll find the 2 plugs coming down the left rear frame bar right behind the engine to hookup the oil sensor and gear selector switch connectors.

Maybe you'll fire it up this weekend!!

Found the two wires, and I have some vacuum caps around here someplace, Eck gave them to me, just got to find them.

I have put the best caps on my YICS ports that I could find and given I have had several fail over the years, if it were me, I would put some good heavy duty hose on and use a bolt or something to plug the hose and put clamps on both ends. Inevitably, the cap that will fail will be either one of the inside ones that will be very difficult to get to, especially on the road with the engine hot.

What I would NOT do is try the bigger version of the Jason mod. First of all, you could never balance the carbs unless you undone everything and it would probably idle poorly, not just give you some lope . Also keep in mind that the VMax setup works because it is feeding each cylinder thru more than one carb, not just because it is connecting the intake ports.

Anyway Lew, I am glad you are getting this close to being on the road again and I am anxious to see how it does.
