Ozlander Posted May 10, 2012 #1 Posted May 10, 2012 Gas is headed to a buck a gallon in Kansas. Down 30 cents in three weeks. $3.459 yesterday.
Carbon_One Posted May 10, 2012 #3 Posted May 10, 2012 Maybe but how long would it last IF it even got that low to begin with. Can't see the oil companies going along for that to happen. Larry
Mike G in SC Posted May 10, 2012 #6 Posted May 10, 2012 When I was stationed in Wichita, KS (keeping the VCong out of KS) some guy west of the river would start jacking his prices down, then the gas wars were on. Price then,,1970 was like .35-.40. They battled to .17/gallon once. Finally, the competing stations would line up around his station and continue to circle around and fill up,,,, taking their time with drops per pass. He would give up and do it again next month. That been happening much there lately????
N3FOL Posted May 10, 2012 #7 Posted May 10, 2012 In my wildest dream...below 3.50/ gallon is pretty good compared to other States.
dacheedah Posted May 10, 2012 #8 Posted May 10, 2012 it may drop till elections and then we'll feel it
Ozlander Posted May 10, 2012 Author #9 Posted May 10, 2012 Remember we are a republican state. We have our own oil wells and refineries.
steamer Posted May 11, 2012 #10 Posted May 11, 2012 Anything is possible in OZ. Just click your heels together 3 times.

Condor Posted May 11, 2012 #14 Posted May 11, 2012 Who'da thunk we'd be getting excited about $3.50/gal.... 3 years ago...... When I filled up my '53 Ford for the road trip to school in Denver back in '60 it cost me 19.9/gal with my penny off coupons. I couldn't believe it when I heard that the going price was .36/gal in Colorado...
Sailor Posted May 11, 2012 #16 Posted May 11, 2012 Been $1.31/L here for a long time and that is down from $1.40/L. That's about $5.00/Gal.
Condor Posted May 11, 2012 #17 Posted May 11, 2012 (edited) did ya get green stamps too?? Can't remember. Blue Chips and the stamp wars wouldn't happen until the late '60's. Remember 20X blue chips? I was driving a company car, and would have to fill up daily. I'd come home at the end of the week with the glove box full of stamps..... Edited May 11, 2012 by Condor
JohnMidnight Posted May 11, 2012 #18 Posted May 11, 2012 sigh... 4.22/Gal here in lovely south central california.... was 4.11 the last time I was at that Shell station on TUESDAY this week.
Condor Posted May 11, 2012 #19 Posted May 11, 2012 sigh... 4.22/Gal here in lovely south central california.... was 4.11 the last time I was at that Shell station on TUESDAY this week. In those outlying towns they kinda gotcha. Who's gonna drive 20 miles to save a dime... It was like that even in Visalia when we lived there... although not quite as bad.
BradT Posted May 12, 2012 #20 Posted May 12, 2012 Gas is headed to a buck a gallon That would be the solution. Just think how many from the United States would go out and buy a new truck, some might even get 3/4 or 1 ton. Few months later, everyoneback to work and hard to find good employee's Brad
Dano Posted May 12, 2012 #21 Posted May 12, 2012 That kinda p'd us off when we drove out to Springfield Mo last weekend, Lowest we saw out there was 3.44/ gal then steadily increased as we drove back east to 3.90+ here in Indiana!!!
spear Posted May 15, 2012 #23 Posted May 15, 2012 Don't know what the conversion factor is, but in my home city I'm paying $1.49/litre for regular unleaded. Coincidentally diesel for my tin top is the same price.
mbrood Posted May 15, 2012 #24 Posted May 15, 2012 $4.30 in San Diego... just south of the huge LA refineries who also ship to Arizona, Nevada, etc. where it's up to 60 cents cheaper ????
Condor Posted May 15, 2012 #25 Posted May 15, 2012 $4.30 in San Diego... just south of the huge LA refineries who also ship to Arizona, Nevada, etc. where it's up to 60 cents cheaper ???? That's because of all the extra crapofornia additives they require, and all the extra taxes they slap on a gallon.... but it ain't political.......
