Trader Posted May 9, 2012 #2 Posted May 9, 2012 Many places "managed" when the power blackout happened in Aug about 6-7 years ago. No lights=4 way stop. If everyone goes by that it works very well.
Venturous Randy Posted May 9, 2012 #3 Posted May 9, 2012 This is similar to a four way stop intersection. It is amazing how effective they can be, until you get people not paying attention and then it stops the traffic flow. Or, you have the agressive driver that does not wait their turn. We must have about the worst drivers in the world where the actual driving is not the top priority when driving around. Everything else seems to take priority. EandyA
BOO Posted May 9, 2012 #4 Posted May 9, 2012 Stop signs are definitely better for traffic flow then lights. The town just south of me use to have a 6 way stop sign intersection right on a main highway. Everything seemed to work fine and traffic moved right along. They use to sent a cop to that intersection for afternoon rush hour traffic to direct traffic-- what a joke-- He should have just stayed away. In their ultimate wisdom they closed two of the streets to the intersection making it a four way intersection and installed lights. Now you just sit and wait. I suspect they spend thousands of dollars on engineering to screw up that intersection. BOO
OB-1 Posted May 9, 2012 #5 Posted May 9, 2012 A day without traffic lights would be like... a day in Crook County, WY where we don't have any traffic lights.
