Yeah, Rick we are fine. I have two nieces that live side by side and one hit their houses. Not to bad though I don't think but it happen just at sundown last evening and I haven't had a chance to go over to their homes yet but I don't think it is to bad. Did destroy a house about 1/2 a block away and also derailed a couple of train cars as well as the engine.

One of the cars had some kind of chemical in it so they evacuated the whole town, pop about 200, so I don't know if they will let me in there this morning or not. Need to make sure their houses are waterproof.

Oh yeah the important part they are fine, no injuries at all.

Glad I left work early Yesterday and hauled butt home. Springfield,MO got hammered. They were sounding the sirens just as I got onto Hwy. 65 to head back to Arkansas.

Twisters,High winds,and baseball sized hail.

Ought to be interesting going in to work this morning. They were showing pictures on the news just now of the damage caused by a twister that hit just a few blocks from where I work.

There were just storms after storms folowing the same track from NW Arkansas into Missouri and on into Illinois.

This just aint supposed to happen in January. But then again...it isn't supposed to be 70* either.:confused24:

My brother is an OBGyn in Springfield and I just saw on TWC that it got hit. Guess I ought to give him a call.

Where, in Springfield, do you work, ED? I grew up there.

I saw my 1st tornado about 1960 in Michigan. I stood at the window & watched it take the neighbor's roof off & send a 3 foot thick tree somewhere. Very loud.

Never saw one again until I came to KS in '99. Wife was wathing warnings on TV, in the basement [she is terrified of tornados].

I stood on front porch & watched lightning, & noticed a big dip in some clouds during lightning flashes......at almost the same time, I heard a sound like 20 locomotives going full speed a few feet from me.

Wife made me come downstairs & I didn't argue never heard noise that loud.

That tornado was called an F5, but is one of the reasons we now have the new scale, since it was an F6+ if scale was proportionate.

Only later did I learn it was 1500 feet from me & porch and removed much of the city.

One of the strongest ever recorded & hit a city. Saw empty lots where brick buildings used to be.

Oddly, not many people hurt, which is typical.

It seems it still didn't affect me since I worry more about hail damage to roof & $1000. deductible on insurance.

Someday I'll die , but it won't be because of a tornado...even if I tried.

I'll probably get hail damage someday & have to replace shingles, though.

Don't feel bad about down south. Last night we had thunder, lightning and tornado sirens go off here in Northern Michigan. Really weird for up here in January. I hear you Popeye-I still remember in 1968 we hurried down to our basement as a tornado hit and distroyed two homes, each home was just three down on each side of ours. It was like a bomb just leveled each house but hardly did any damage to the other ones. The farmer down the road lost most of his cattle, found some a couple miles away. I don't like tornado's much. Little update.

Still haven't been able to get over the houses, there are several train cars derailed and one of the has some sort of chemical leaking so the town is still evacuated.

Have talked to the relatives and it seems the houses are probably waterproof.

Guess that's what you have insurance for.

Corner of National & St. Louis right next to the Steak and Shake. The buiding itself has been many things over the years. An indoor tennis court,Liquor distributor, body shop. I've talked to a couple of people who have told me that they attended their senior prom in that building. Crazy!

There was damage all over the place. Driving in there were billboards shreaded. Looked like they exploded at the gound. Huge Hwy signs ripped apart and their concrete footings ripped from the ground.
