yamahamer Posted January 7, 2008 #2 Posted January 7, 2008 IF YOU HAVE AN 07 MODEL CHANGE YOUR PLUGS YAMAHA CUT CORNERS IN 07 AND USED A CHEAP PLUG THEY ARE ONLY GOOD FOR ABOUT 6000 MILES GO BACK WITH NGK/DPR8EA-9
Guest KitCarson Posted January 8, 2008 #3 Posted January 8, 2008 What year is your bike? Are you the only owner or is it used? Does it have stock pipes or slip ons.........what first comes to mind is the fuel/mix jets are turned out too far......but a lot depends on age......has it been worked on previous......this is a question that needs more info.........and Denden most likely to help. Hey the folks who make the Carb Tune have a Color Tune device also....not real expensive.......you use it to balance the fuel mix to each cylinder....that will clear it up.
BOO Posted January 8, 2008 #4 Posted January 8, 2008 If it has been running fine and you didn't change anything don't go turning screws. Use some Sea Foam in it, it takes several doses sometimes to get the carbs cleaned out. Sounds like they have some garbage in the jets. Plugs sound like a good idea also. Jerry

How do you know all this "insider Yamaha stuff?"
BradT Posted January 8, 2008 #6 Posted January 8, 2008 Do you use the choke often or for a long time ? This will create some of the black stuff your finding on the exhaust. If you do turn it off as quick as possible. Suggest trying the seafoam as mentioned. THis should also help clean it up. Brad
dragerman Posted January 8, 2008 #7 Posted January 8, 2008 The other thing to consider is the air filters but an 07 should be ok depending on your milage and driving conditions. If the filters clog they act like a choke.
