Dragonslayer Posted April 21, 2012 #1 Posted April 21, 2012 OK The brakes are blead and now feel fine. I just took the second test ride and it is now back firing just a little bit on the # 3 and 4 cylinders when de- accelerating any hints on this new problem?
Prairiehammer Posted April 21, 2012 #3 Posted April 21, 2012 Usually, "backfiring" as loud explosions in the exhaust is caused by either leaking exhaust/muffler connections (allows air into the hot rich exhaust that then combusts) or sticky carb slides or carbs in need of synchronization. BTW, how do you know it is #3 and #4 backfiring?

That is also the side there is a possiblity of a loose exhaust pipe connection where the muffler connects with the exhaust header.
Venturous Randy Posted April 22, 2012 #5 Posted April 22, 2012 That is also the side there is a possiblity of a loose exhaust pipe connection where the muffler connects with the exhaust header. I suspect you found your problem. RandyA
Dragonslayer Posted April 22, 2012 Author #6 Posted April 22, 2012 I suspect you found your problem. RandyAMust have cause it seems to have gone away with the help of a little foil tape on the exhaust header for thickness and a minor adaptation on the clamp which allowed me to tighten it a little more.
