Gdserlin Posted April 21, 2012 #1 Posted April 21, 2012 I have read the posts on turn signal issues but I am looking for flasher relay and not finding it. Left side upper fairing ?????? Any one, thanks in advance (1989)
Wizard765 Posted April 21, 2012 #2 Posted April 21, 2012 Behind the headlight is a cluster of relays strapped to a steel bar. It is on that bar. Not sure if you can reach it with the headlight out or not. Might have to take the dash top cover off to get to it.
friesman Posted April 21, 2012 #3 Posted April 21, 2012 theres a flasher relay? what kind of trenchcoat do I need? Brian
Midicat Posted April 21, 2012 #4 Posted April 21, 2012 BOOOOO BRIAN!! Moderator? Please move this thread to the "Bar Joke" discussion.
GolfVenture Posted April 21, 2012 #5 Posted April 21, 2012 Ya, you do need to remove the headlight and it is located up and back, I think just slightly to left of center. There will be a 1/2 wide retangular like rubber band that the relay slides into. The rubberband has a thin sleeve where a flat piece of metal slides into to keep it there on the bank of relays. You can remove just the relay or both the relay and the rubberband. I think it is easier to remove and install both together.
dingy Posted April 21, 2012 #6 Posted April 21, 2012 The 84-93 flasher relay is in a unit that is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. There is a 41R # on it. 9 wires going into it. This unit also contains the starting circuit cut-off relay. Gary Brian beat me to it.
GolfVenture Posted April 21, 2012 #7 Posted April 21, 2012 I've been tutored by the best, thanks to Gary.
Gdserlin Posted April 21, 2012 Author #8 Posted April 21, 2012 Is 41 R really two relays or more in one housing ? and can I if neccesary wire in a generac flasher relay ?
dingy Posted April 21, 2012 #9 Posted April 21, 2012 It is two relays plus the turn signal canceling unit. You possibly could add a standard flasher, with some wiring changes. Have you disassembled & cleaned the turn signal switch ? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42721 Gary
Gdserlin Posted April 21, 2012 Author #10 Posted April 21, 2012 I have cleaned the switch. It started with a blown turn signal fuse, which i have replaced ... it has not blown again but i have no turn signals or 4 ways. I am still having trouble locating this 41 r RELAY. I haver found a box that looks to be the right size but it has two screws as a mouinting point, more than 9 wires and DOES NOT say 41 R on it. I have removed the headlight and I found the box just to the left of center.
Gdserlin Posted April 21, 2012 Author #11 Posted April 21, 2012 Found it....its got visable damage.... cant describe it exactly but something burned up ... inside.
