dingy Posted April 21, 2012 #1 Posted April 21, 2012 Got this geared motor at work today from one of the other engineer's. There may be a couple of more available. I don't know what it was intended for. 12V motor, not a servo motor. Only 2 wire input. What can this motor be made to do on a Venture. Really, you know me, I may just try the best ideas. Gary
bongobobny Posted April 21, 2012 #4 Posted April 21, 2012 Hmmm, maybe a worm gear assembly to engage and disengage a starter motor from the rear rim with a rubber wheel attached for a reverse on my trike???
oldgoat Posted April 21, 2012 #6 Posted April 21, 2012 to raise and lower the antena. first french the antena in the side saddle bag. place the motor in there and there ya go.
oldgoat Posted April 21, 2012 #9 Posted April 21, 2012 electric center stand raiser and lower:whistling:

MikeWa Posted April 21, 2012 #14 Posted April 21, 2012 Well all I can say is if it goes on a motorcycle 'I want one'. Mike
Bob Myers Posted April 21, 2012 #15 Posted April 21, 2012 Booster motor for an RSV? COuld use all the help they can find
dacheedah Posted April 21, 2012 #16 Posted April 21, 2012 I was thinking like a power pole or an actuator on your center stand, just press a button and you are awesomely stable
skydoc_17 Posted April 21, 2012 #18 Posted April 21, 2012 Hey Gary, How about a power windshield raiser/lowerer, or a power windshield vent opener. OR a power seat adjuster. OR a power center stand like the NASCAR vehicles have. Just thinking out loud! Earl
KIC Posted April 21, 2012 #19 Posted April 21, 2012 Does it just spin one way ? Can it reverse ? What type of power/gear type ration does it have ? Does it have more torque than a 2nd Gen ? ( Sorry couldn't resist) Tell us what the motor can do, we will figure out what to do with it !
Marcarl Posted April 21, 2012 #20 Posted April 21, 2012 Well now, what kind of 12v does this run on,,, maybe we've forgot that we have used up about all the 'ambient' 12v we have.
KIC Posted April 21, 2012 #21 Posted April 21, 2012 Well now, what kind of 12v does this run on,,, maybe we've forgot that we have used up about all the 'ambient' 12v we have. Good point..so how about it raises and lowers the case for 2nd battery that is installed to run that motor.
Redneck Posted April 21, 2012 #22 Posted April 21, 2012 You could turn your antique first gen into a prius. you would probably have to make some drive train upgrades so it would handle the extra power.
pmelah Posted April 21, 2012 #23 Posted April 21, 2012 i love it all of yall have grate ideas but i need it to fix my clutch and L.front brake on my newly found out 97 to 99 Royal Star Tour Deluxe i could draw the schematics any one got a red crayone i can borrow to draw this
ragtop69gs Posted April 21, 2012 #24 Posted April 21, 2012 How about an Automatic front fairing opener, it would save Cougar alot of time when adding more relay's to control the relays.
Beau-Kat Posted April 21, 2012 #25 Posted April 21, 2012 How about a robotic cassette swapper outer? Or maybe an automatic coin tosser for the toll booths? Or a parking brake actuator for those living in San Francisco? Or an automatic magnifying glass deployer so I can see the screen on my GPS? Or a back scratcher when you're riding solo and have heavy winter gloves on and not a stick in sight?
