Rip Posted January 6, 2008 #1 Posted January 6, 2008 Had a great time at the motorcycle show in Toronto yesterday, but was disappointed to see only two Ventures, one 1st generation and one 2nd with a lot of people looking it over. Also disappointed not to find more vendors with add ons, etc. I was hoping to find a lightbar for the rear. The things to sell seemed to be leathers, helmets, and sunglasses. It so motivated me to ride that I went out for a spin this morning in +3 weather --and then quickly washed the bike to get the salt residue off! Anyone else make the show?
mother Posted January 6, 2008 #2 Posted January 6, 2008 i was there saturday 11am to 3pm. a buddy of mine rode to the show. i bumped into chubicheka and heard that swifty was there somewhere. that 1st gen trike was sweet, i should have brought my camera. bought some 3xl chaps a 3xl throat coat and some pepperettes(they were not as good as Carls). cheers, Scott
Joopster55 Posted January 6, 2008 #3 Posted January 6, 2008 I was there on Saturday from 10:30am - 4:00pm, never seen any other Venturriders. My wife and I even wore our Venturerider.org t-shirts. I was dissappointed at the very poor turn out or lack of Royal Stars or Yamahas. Lots and lots and lots of Harley Davidson's of course. Lots of vendors selling cheap off shore leathers. Almost every hall was an East Indian selling leathers from Pakistan. Very few leathers for sale that are made in North America. Bought my wife and I each a Frogg Toggs rain suits made in the good ole USA!!!!! Also got a bottle of Doc Baileys made in CANADA!!!!! Food and beer very expensive. $5.75 for a beer.

My wife wanted to buy some pepperettes, but I said no, we'll get some from Carl's, his are better.
sleepy2 Posted January 6, 2008 #5 Posted January 6, 2008 As I posted before I and two others(Honda Shadow--Suzuki Bulovard) went on Friday as we were on lay-off and they wanted to go then.I wanted to go Sat(was out-voted) Just took some samples of the peperoni as they were NO WHERE NEAR Carls. As for the 1st gen -wasn't it one of our members bikes--85 with red diamond flame job? Was disapointed also about lack of our bikes.Thought there would be atleast 1 08 to look at. Bought a cheap vest for $30 just so I would have something to put patches on. Didn't take as many pictures I thought I would but o-well. Bought 2 2gig cards for digital camera but hardly used first one. Almost bought helmet and new tire but wasn't sure what to get. Will check on prices and maybe go to next show and buy. Got a few pictures done with the models that were walking around.Very nice tho.
Guest BluesLover Posted January 7, 2008 #6 Posted January 7, 2008 Was there on Friday morning. Got there about 10:30, left by 1:30 - thought I saw Phil (Sleepy2) at the Support Our Troops booth. Only bought 3 of the Support Our Troops decals (the same ones that Rocket had with him when he visited last summer). Did take lots of pictures of bikes and of scantly clad ladies on bikes. Then went back again this morning (got there at 11, left at 3) - prices were down a little from Friday on a few items but nothing significant. Did buy myself a new vest and chaps and buddy threw in a "free" pair of cold weather gloves. Did see an 06 RSV (the best colour) for sale on Friday and it was sold by today. Saw a couple of 1st gens -- an 84 (blue, I think) for sale and the trike. Sat on the BMW 1200LT and the Victory Vision ... thanks, but I'll stick with the RSV just the same. Almost had the better half convinced on getting a Ridley (the US made automatic) and then saw the price sticker and quickly backed off on THAT decision!!! IMHO, Friday is the day to go - crowds are thin, lots of stock to choose from and not too much difference in the prices. Cheers,
BradT Posted January 7, 2008 #7 Posted January 7, 2008 As for the 1st gen -wasn't it one of our members bikes--85 with red diamond flame job? Hey Phil I think that may have been Cancruisers, but he sold it a year or two ago. Brad
Guest Swifty Posted January 7, 2008 #8 Posted January 7, 2008 i bumped into chubicheka and heard that swifty was there somewhere. yup, I was there for a few hours early afternoon on Saturday, chatted with Abdul for awhile...NO, he wasn't one of those guys selling leathers! The burgundy and grey wedge painted 1st gen was formerly Kurt's bike (Cancruiser); I stood around listening to the owner's sales pitch for a bit...$4895? I enjoyed checking out the 4 cylinder Honda classics, the hooters in the chopper hall, that Timeout campin trailer, and the ultimate African safari I'd like to do some day, but all that enjoyment still wasn't worth the admission.
sleepy2 Posted January 7, 2008 #9 Posted January 7, 2008 Hey BluesLover I was at the Army booth but didn't see you--should have said Hi and we could have had a chat and met the other guys i was with. Thanks also to Swifty & BradT I thought the red Venture was Cancruiser's old one but as usual couldn't remember name.Owner did want enough for bike/not bad shape tho. We thought it was also pretty sparse for spectators also but that made it easier to get pictures of bikes and no line-up to get pics with models. Hopefully will get to work on bike this week as I am laid-off till 14th.Wish it wasn't such weird weather--but wouldn't be getting NOTHING done if it was nicer tho.
Guest BluesLover Posted January 7, 2008 #10 Posted January 7, 2008 Hey BluesLover I was at the Army booth but didn't see you--should have said Hi and we could have had a chat and met the other guys i was with. Hey Phil - we were talking to the fellows manning the Jeep - the guy I was with has a son that is out in Wainwright right now, so we were asking them if they knew him and such. By the time we moved over to where they had the gear and patches & pins all set up you were gone. Cheers,
Marcarl Posted January 7, 2008 #11 Posted January 7, 2008 Thanks for the votes guys, or are you trying to butter me up. Well it's nice to know you thought of me anyways. I'm glad I didn't go then, if it cost too much, would have to raise the price on the pepperettes to cover my losses, I am Dutch eh?
BradT Posted January 8, 2008 #12 Posted January 8, 2008 Well it's nice to know you thought of me anyways. I'm glad I didn't go then, I am Dutch eh? Carl I must have got the same invite you did. Thanks Guys ! Brad & Marcarl yup, I was there for a few hours early afternoon on Saturday, I enjoyed checking out the 4 cylinder Honda classics, the hooters in the chopper hall, that Timeout campin trailer, and the ultimate African safari I'd like to do some day, but all that enjoyment still wasn't worth the admission. You Could have you used the three dollar off coupon that was posted on the other site. Then it would be more feasable for you to check out the chopper hall Brad
Guest maddabber Posted January 8, 2008 #13 Posted January 8, 2008 I was there Sat from about 11 to 4:30, just checking things out. Spent time in a meeting for the Ontario Roadriders for 2 hours. There was lots to look at but not really for the price. I'm ready to go for a ride right now. Come on Spring.:cool10:
