TxVenture Posted January 10, 2008 #26 Posted January 10, 2008 In my 1st. gen, I use NAPA gold filter #4933 because the o-ring comes with the filter, and also because I will NOT USE a Fram in any vehicle I own. I had a Fram filter split on my Ranger and dump 4 qts. of oil right after I had it changed. As far as the oil I use in the scoot, I use Amsoil 10-40 and have no oil related problems. I usually go 7K between changes. Don H.
wkboard Posted January 10, 2008 #27 Posted January 10, 2008 Is this what you are talking about? http://saturn.dnsprotect.com/~rivcopro/products/product.php?productid=424&cat=404&page=31 Presumably you can then use Mobil 1 or other automotive filters? Exactly! They are a little cheaper at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/p02.htm and rick gives a discount to venturerider members. Then you can cross reference the fram filter # that comes with it. It is easier to install than the regular filter change, and then very easy after that. It avoids all of that oil all over the floor when you put the old housing on with the o-ring out of place. (don't ask how I know)
dray Posted January 10, 2008 #28 Posted January 10, 2008 I just stuff cotton balls in the old filter and put it back on! :stirthepot::rotfl::rotfl: thats still a lot better than a new FRAM FILTER:15_8_211[1]:
