GolfVenture Posted April 16, 2012 #1 Posted April 16, 2012 Anyone found any solution in reducing the sun glare on the dash. Was riding back home yesterday and the sun glare was really bad.
Flyinfool Posted April 16, 2012 #3 Posted April 16, 2012 Are you talking about a reflection of the top of the dash onto the windshield, or the glare that you get off the instruments with the sun at your back?
GolfVenture Posted April 16, 2012 Author #5 Posted April 16, 2012 Are you talking about a reflection of the top of the dash onto the windshield, or the glare that you get off the instruments with the sun at your back? Glare that you get off the instruments with the sun at your back.
Keemez Posted April 16, 2012 #6 Posted April 16, 2012 Glare that you get off the instruments with the sun at your back. Turn around and ride the other direction.
GolfVenture Posted April 17, 2012 Author #7 Posted April 17, 2012 Turn around and ride the other direction. Dang, the best solution ever.
ACE50 Posted April 17, 2012 #9 Posted April 17, 2012 This prob won't help on a Venture, but on the RSTD with all that chrome up front, I put 4-5" of Black Limo tint just above the support of WS and that really helped. I have blackened all the lower plastic to match the "Midnight" of the bike!
mraf Posted April 17, 2012 #10 Posted April 17, 2012 Get a set of polorized sun glasses.... Had to laugh at this one. Thats what I wear. They have 1.5 cheaters on the bottom. Helps with the glare plus I can read the map at a glance on the tank bag. Bought them at Wally World in the fishing section.
camos Posted April 17, 2012 #11 Posted April 17, 2012 Anyone found any solution in reducing the sun glare on the dash. Was riding back home yesterday and the sun glare was really bad. I have often wondered the same thing. The angle of the dash seems to wrong for a lot of conditions. Have been thinking of trying to rotate the instrument panel so the face is more vertical. Don't know if that is possible, any thoughts on this?
friesman Posted April 17, 2012 #12 Posted April 17, 2012 I think Condor has the right idea, polarized sunglasses are designed to remove glare coming from a low angle, thats why you can see thu the top of a pond and see fish below when youre wearing them. I figure a good polarized lens should help out a lot. Brian

In the 40s I can no longer jump off the boat stern onto the ground in my yard without feeling it the next day. In the 50s I can no longer sleep or lay on the floor without grunting to get up. The 60s my memory isn't as good. I wonder what it is going to be in the 70s.

KIC Posted April 17, 2012 #15 Posted April 17, 2012 I wonder what it is going to be in the 70s. I heard you get senile and buy a 2nd Gen....hey...just what I heard....
Keemez Posted April 17, 2012 #16 Posted April 17, 2012 I think Condor has the right idea, polarized sunglasses are designed to remove glare coming from a low angle, thats why you can see thu the top of a pond and see fish below when youre wearing them. I figure a good polarized lens should help out a lot. I'm not bashin anybody or their advice, but I'll tell you from experience that polarized lenses don't solve it all. I always wear my (polarized) sunnies when I ride in the daylight- sunny, cloudy, don't matter. If the sun is up my specs are on. I still get considerable glare from the instrument panel. I think it's one of those "that's just the way it is" type things. The combination of the materials used and the angle of reflection... = bright glare in your face. Just set your cruise at a comfortable pace & forget about the dash. You'll know when you need gas cuz the engine will quit.
friesman Posted April 17, 2012 #17 Posted April 17, 2012 Youre right, polarized dont solve it all, but i think mine help quite a lot. Brian
Keemez Posted April 17, 2012 #18 Posted April 17, 2012 Youre right, polarized dont solve it all, but i think mine help quite a lot. I would agree with that. I think without the polarized lenses it'd be painfully blinding. I'm definitely glad to have them.
chabicheka Posted April 17, 2012 #19 Posted April 17, 2012 Get a set of polorized sun glasses.... Okay...I wear one, then what do i do with the other one?
Condor Posted April 17, 2012 #20 Posted April 17, 2012 Okay...I wear one, then what do i do with the other one? HUH??????????????????????????????
1rooster Posted April 18, 2012 #21 Posted April 18, 2012 Anyone found any solution in reducing the sun glare on the dash. Was riding back home yesterday and the sun glare was really bad. That is #1 on the list of the 20 things I hate about the 1st Gen.
Keemez Posted April 18, 2012 #22 Posted April 18, 2012 That is #1 on the list of the 20 things I hate about the 1st Gen. Blasphemy! Nobody could come up with 20 things they "hate" about a gen1!
Rosie1965 Posted April 18, 2012 #23 Posted April 18, 2012 Okay...I wear one, then what do i do with the other one? Hang on to them, when you misplace the first set you won't be without.
Rosie1965 Posted April 18, 2012 #24 Posted April 18, 2012 I wonder what it is going to be in the 70s. Bliss, you won't even realize what it was like before because you won't remember.
Condor Posted April 18, 2012 #25 Posted April 18, 2012 That is #1 on the list of the 20 things I hate about the 1st Gen. OK I'll bite. What are the other 19?? Enlighten us.....
