These look like they might be progressive but I do not know for sure. There is very little travel for my forks and I am constantly bottomong out. If they are stock they are worn out. If they are progressive they may not have the correct spacers. when I took the cap off there was verry little pressure.

Thats strange, they look like Progressive springs. Never heard of them going bad.

Maby sombody installed the wrong size progressive springs.

Maby sombody has a set of progressive's for that bike and can measure them, to compare to the length of yours.

That's a dual rate spring - wound close together at the top and spread out at bottom.

On a Progressive the spacing changes across the length, rather than the instant transition.

The stock spring is dual rate.

Hey Ty,

The springs you are showing in your pic appear to be Progressive, but at 17 3/4 inches, these are the correct length for the Yamaha R6 motorcycle. (a 500 pound motorcycle) The length of the Progressive Fork Springs for the Venture Royale are 21 inches. (an 800 pound motorcycle) You can see a pic of the correct Progressive Fork Springs here:

http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3768&title=first-gen1983-1993-progressive-fork-springs-21&cat=22

Replacement of these springs is the only cure. As you stated, you have very little travel, and the springs currently in your bike are not rated for the weight of your Motorcycle.

Actually, you are very lucky that these springs didn't bottom out in a sweeper turn, or a panic stop, and throw you over the handle bars. (thru the windshield) It is your good fortune you discovered this error BEFORE an accident. Buy a lotto ticket! :thumbsup2:

These are the OEM springs and spacers out of my '84. The Progressives will be as long as the springs and spacers together.

Oops.... looks like Earl has a grip on the issue.
