FROG MAN Posted January 5, 2008 #1 Posted January 5, 2008 Can a thief read? I'm thinking about putting up a warning sign at our new property. Local punks hit it again along with 10-15 others around. Some of the community knows whose is doing it but afraid to rat them out. Here is my idea These premises protected by .45 cal Intruders will be SHOT Survivors Shot Again Any Question? Is this to mild?
Guest BluesLover Posted January 5, 2008 #2 Posted January 5, 2008 Gerald - I recall seeing one on TV and can't remember exactly the event or the location ... it was during some natural tragedy (a flood, if I recall correctly) and a farmer that was protecting his property had a sign with him saying "You loot ... I shoot". Pretty darned straight forward, if you ask me! Cheers,
DragonRider Posted January 5, 2008 #3 Posted January 5, 2008 It wouldnt work, if they are stupid enuff to hang around, like after Katrina and other natural disasters where evac is ordered, what makes you think they can read...........The only thing they understand is the use of deadly force to protect your property, or you loot:no-no-no:, I shoot:buttkick:. (I like that one) Gerald - I recall seeing one on TV and can't remember exactly the event or the location ... it was during some natural tragedy (a flood, if I recall correctly) and a farmer that was protecting his property had a sign with him saying "You loot ... pegscraper Posted January 5, 2008 #4 Posted January 5, 2008 The original idea is too verbose. A punk won't even bother to read all that. I like "you loot, I shoot". Short and to the point. There's no way to not read all of it.

BradT Posted January 5, 2008 #6 Posted January 5, 2008 A nice German Shepard should do the trick, not too mention a excellent pet. Brad
Redneck Posted January 5, 2008 #7 Posted January 5, 2008 Frog man I had a sign that said no trespassing violators will be shot survivors will be shot again. They stole it and shot my lock with a shotgun.
FROG MAN Posted January 5, 2008 Author #8 Posted January 5, 2008 Redneck maybe I should put up a few grave markers next to the sign. Failed attempt #1 Failed attempt #2 Failed attempt #3
Guest MotorCycleRadio Posted January 5, 2008 #9 Posted January 5, 2008 This may be the one "BluesLover" was talking about.
Redneck Posted January 5, 2008 #10 Posted January 5, 2008 Redneck maybe I should put up a few grave markers next to the sign. Failed attempt #1 Failed attempt #2 Failed attempt #3 I doubt most of them would be able understand the statement you are trying to make. Get a digital game camera and get some pictures of them in the act.
Guest BluesLover Posted January 5, 2008 #11 Posted January 5, 2008 This may be the one "BluesLover" was talking about.Nope, but it sends the same message! The one I mentioned, I saw on TV ... the property owner was sitting on his rooftop holding a shotgun and had the sign propped up beside him. Cheers,
Eck Posted January 5, 2008 #12 Posted January 5, 2008 Get a digital game camera and get some pictures of them in the act. DITTO.. This is the only thing you can do without going to jail yourself for a crime that THEY committed.. Jurors wont give you much sympathy if you shoot someone.. They will however be on your side when you show them a movie of the platiff in the act of robbing you...or destroying your property. Keep in mind.. Taking the law into your own hands will place YOU behind bars. You have NO right to kill someone robbing you...it is not self defense... unless they break in while your standing there "inside"...then you can shoot till you run out of bullets..and you can claim you had a panic attack...

Wizard765 Posted January 5, 2008 #15 Posted January 5, 2008 in texas we can shoot people pretty much when ever we feel the urge. THAT is priceless... :rotf:
flb_78 Posted January 5, 2008 #16 Posted January 5, 2008 Yeppers, Here in Texas, you CAN shoot someone for taking your stuff without permission. I like it, I like it alot. Hell, here in Texas, you can shoot somebody for taking your neighbors stuff!!!
Guest Popeye Posted January 5, 2008 #17 Posted January 5, 2008 Any sign that threatens bodily injury to a burglar or other unarmed attacker, is considered premeditation by prosecutors. An armed home-invader cannot be legally shot in many states [the homeowner/occupants are required, legally, to make an escape]. This is why many states have/are adopting the "Castle Doctrine" into state law. However, if someone is shot, they had better be inside the dwelling and ARMED with a DEADLY WEAPON. It is good to know the laws; at least where you live.
Thom Posted January 5, 2008 #18 Posted January 5, 2008 down here i can shoot anybody breaking in my place , i can even shoot somebody breaking into somebody's else place . in fla. we have the right to protect me and my property or other people or their property with deadly force and never spend a nite in jail , just fill out the short form , have the M.E. remove the remains and go back to bed . a friend of mine [ LEO ] told me , just make sure i do it rite even if it take 3 or 4 shots , if the the bad guy lives i can't use the short form DITTO.. FROG MAN Posted January 5, 2008 Author #19 Posted January 5, 2008 Just trying to save the thief's life. I'm a calm and self controlled person. Look out when Mamamo starts shooting!
Ozark Posted January 5, 2008 #20 Posted January 5, 2008 Since I doubt that Gerald would be interested in moving to Florida or Texas, I think it would be good for him to consider "Gun Control" i.e. Gun control is hitting what you're aiming at. If someone breaks into my house while we are at home, they would definitely be "armed" before the police arrive to remove the body.
FROG MAN Posted January 5, 2008 Author #21 Posted January 5, 2008 Redneck I like your idea of a digital game camera. Some are fairly inexpensive and might catch a thief.:rotf:
MamaMo Posted January 5, 2008 #22 Posted January 5, 2008 Frogman is right. I would be the one they would have to worry about. Keep my 9mm pistol mag loaded with law enforcement rounds that a buddy of mine gave me.(No not Skid he is innocent) Example 12 rounds

Nighthawk II Posted January 5, 2008 #24 Posted January 5, 2008 Hey Frogman, I have seen security systems at wally-world that consists of a monitor and cameras that arn't very expensive. If you can Hook it up to a recorder you would have them. Just hide it well enough that they can't find and steal it too.
