I have a 2006 RSTD. My Liner had a switch that was meant for running lights. The RSTD doesn't have this switch. So I'll need a switch and light ideas. I'd like to be able to turn them off and on separate from the headlight and the switch has to look like it wasn't an afterthought.

Ideas?

I wired my passing lamps as directed here to the running, so they are on all the time. I mounted a switch on the ignition cover, so if someone flashes I just reach up and turn them off. I had this switch on hand, but will change it out for a waterprof if needed.

I added small (Wallyworld) Optronics running lights.

Added a switch in the back of the headlight housing towards left side.

The relay is in the housing so the switch was real easy to wire.

Its not necessarily convenient for easy access but I rarely if ever turn them off.

I can reach it while driving but ... not advisable.

Cheap chrome housings and these PAR 36 LEDs http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=84586&langId=-1

Bat #%£€> bright but pricey PM me for pictures

Looked at the link but cannot find the price...:confused24:

Here's what I put in my RSV. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200407598_200407598

Looks like they are on sale. The "bulbs" just pop right out of the rubber buckets and are perfect fir in the RSV passing light buckets.:cool10::cool10::cool10:

How well do they light up the road? Are they a wide scattered pattern or are they like spot lights with some down the road reach?

Wide with some down road.... didn't think that the reg running lights were that great as they kind of just had the dull yellow light out-words. but boy they can see ya coming now :D

i purchased a set of the led lights also, and added a little something extra today

I LIKE that!!! :178:

Where didja get the flex lights?

I played copy cat and put the amber flex LEDs in too.

I see that you put them on the I.D. facing toward the outer edge. I tried something different and 1st put them on the O.D. pointing inward. This made them in my opinion show up better. I then put aluminum foil behind them as a reflector. Only when I went to install them on the bike did I realize that the strips were just slightly wider than the recess in the LED "bulb". This made it impossible to get the retaining ring securely back on the bucket. :headache:

SOOOO, back to the drawing board! I peeled the strips back off and installed them pointing to the outer edge. I still put the aluminum foil behind them as a reflector.

The 1st picture is with the LED strip pointing to the center of the "bulb":(

The aluminum foil, not pretty, but functional...:cool10:

I tried it both ways too. But the strip i purchased wasnt long enough to complete a full circle on the o/d and made a blank spot.

looking good!:cool10:
