Yammer Dan Posted January 7, 2008 #56 Posted January 7, 2008 Okay, here's my new toy. Hope I did this right. All I saw was a Sharp looking 1st Gen....
Guest GTShark Posted January 13, 2008 #58 Posted January 13, 2008 with 25K miles......it could be 125K, but no indication of excessive wear on any parts(pegs, seat, etc.). My second 83. Had a Venture Royale many years back. This one is burgandy. Only mods I added were fog lights, mini-strobes, deer warning horns, compass/thermometer....took a 700 mile roundtrip to Myrtle Bch from Asheville, NC over Thanksgiving. It purrs and the seat is original and very comfortable. Should I change to synthetic oil? Have had a slew of bikes over the years including 3 beamers(K & R models), Moto Guzzi, Harley, and all manner of rice burners. This is the most comfortable. I miss the anti-lock brakes on my R1100RS, but other than that, I pack it up and go camping & fishing several times a year.....bullet proof, smoothe, powerful.......GTShark

And yes they do have bullet proof motor. As for the syn.oil being that year I would stay clear of syn.oil unless its been running syn.oil most of its life. syn.oil will cause gasket leaks in motors that have been running Dino oil all those years. Best to stay with Dino oil say 15w40 or 20w50 Stay away from oil labels stating (energy saving) and you will be fine. What type of oil you running now in the beast? Buddy
86er Posted January 13, 2008 #60 Posted January 13, 2008 I paid 600 for my beautiful red 1st gen MK1......................................................... the wife likes her (unlike my other girlfriends!) ..................................................................... Spend your 15 grand if you want, but I'll keep my Classic forever! Dan PS-- If I'm not mistaken, our Ambassador rides a 1st Gen also, doesn't he!? Can't mess with our elder statesman! What? Your wife doesn't like your other girlfriends!?!? Yep Dan he sure does. ........................................................................................................ buddy Hate to tell you Buddy, but the last couple of times I had the pleasure of seeing Lowell he was on an Kaw. Voyager But he way prefers his 1st gen! In fact he's looking for another one! Okay, here's my new toy. Hope I did this right. Nice bike, and the prettiest color!
bike nut Posted August 19, 2009 #61 Posted August 19, 2009 I have owned a few bikes.I bought a 83 Venture last month.So far I put 3500kms on it.Its an awsome bike.
timgray Posted August 19, 2009 #62 Posted August 19, 2009 I found a 2st gen for sale in a yard near Kalamazoo, MI.. it was an 85 that was in OK shape. The guy thought he was giving people a deal at $8900 FIRM I had a good hard laugh.
Skid Posted August 19, 2009 #63 Posted August 19, 2009 There weren't many First Gens at Vogel this year either.....
Yammer Dan Posted August 19, 2009 #64 Posted August 19, 2009 There weren't many First Gens at Vogel this year either..... But there was one with a few "Blue Beast" parts on her that is starting to run. Even the Bears want to ride her!!!
MasterGuns Posted August 19, 2009 #65 Posted August 19, 2009 As far as I (a 1st Gen owner), and an unknown 2nd Gen owner that thinks I don't know who he was/is, the 1st gen is not only faster in a straight away from a dead stop or a 5 mph roll off, or a 50 mph roll-on, but in the twisties as well. We sure did have a lot of fun at the Intl Rally at The Hub, and for some, settled this 1st Gen/2nd Gen thing. So there.....
PBJ Posted August 19, 2009 #66 Posted August 19, 2009 Okay, here's my new toy. Hope I did this right. My favorite color.
