Wanderer Posted March 20, 2012 #1 Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) Having increasingly more difficulty turning the key and starting the bike. 86 Royale. I do know one night I saw the switch arcing to my keys on the key chain. Any way does any one have an ignition/(main switch)#1NL-82501-01-00 with key They could part with. mbrood Posted March 20, 2012 #2 Posted March 20, 2012 You would be money ahead taking it out, opening it up and lubing it and clean and lube the electrical contacts. Then you have a clean switch and it's keyed with the bike.

Kirby Posted March 20, 2012 #4 Posted March 20, 2012 Long as you don't hit the kill switch, you'll be OK!!!!!:dancefool::dancefool:
dingy Posted March 20, 2012 #5 Posted March 20, 2012 Some pictures of a 1st gen switch. 1st picture is non-class on top, class on bottom. 2nd shows a class contact plate. There is an extra set of the contact plates on this as opposed to non class equipped bike. 4th shows detent in housing at bottom inside. Last picture shows order of parts without contact plate. Gary

Wanderer Posted March 20, 2012 Author #7 Posted March 20, 2012 I may yet have to take it a part, but for now I forced contact cleaner in and out of the switch and then put some dielectric grease on the key. Seems to be working like a new one. Time will tell.
