spyderhead Posted March 17, 2012 #1 Posted March 17, 2012 I just had my valves adjusted as part of a 25K maintenance. There was always a little valve chatter, but now they sound like a coffee can filled with bolts. The dealer says that the valves tighten/quieten over time; seems adjusting the valves back to spec just makes them noisier. Does that sound right to you?

Some folks compare the sound to an angry sewing machine. Larry
Caveman Posted March 17, 2012 #3 Posted March 17, 2012 :sign yeah that:Yeh, I thought the same thing. Mine was quiet before the valve job, but it makes since, what they say.
ragtop69gs Posted March 17, 2012 #4 Posted March 17, 2012 I too noticed more valve train noise after my recent valve adjustment.
spyderhead Posted March 18, 2012 Author #5 Posted March 18, 2012 Guess they just get quieter as they get tighter. In that case, valve noise is a good thing. Now . . . if I can just get used to riding a bike that sounds like a coffee can filled with nuts and bolts, all will be well.
ragtop69gs Posted March 18, 2012 #6 Posted March 18, 2012 I fixed the noise with that knob on the left, when it says VOL 20 the noise goes away.
