frankd Posted March 16, 2012 #1 Posted March 16, 2012 The rear wheel roller (left) bearing inner race (aka collar) won't pull out easily from the bearing, and I'd like to grease that bearing. Do you usually have to push it or tap it out from the right side? I'd like to get it out without damaging the bearing. Thanks, Frank D.
Snaggletooth Posted March 16, 2012 #2 Posted March 16, 2012 That collar should be fairly easy to slide out. Try a light tap with some pressure. Probably a bunch of gunge holding it in. Don't damage the cage on the bearing! That project was a bear when I replaced the rear bearing. Mike
Dano Posted March 16, 2012 #3 Posted March 16, 2012 Looking at the parts fiche, it looks like you'll have to try to tap it out from the right side. You was right there! Take a look at http://www.partshark.com, click on "parts fiche", then Yamaha Motorcycle Parts, scroll down to "Replacement Parts" area then scroll down to 1984, XV 1200D as the bike and "rear wheel" for the correct fiche. #5 is the rightside bearing, #3 the left "cylindrical bearing" and #4 as the "collar" you're talking about. This will show you how its put together. Good luck!
