HeathersWheels Posted January 2, 2008 #1 Posted January 2, 2008 New year brings new traffic laws. If you have not already read up on the new traffic laws here is a link to a full article...applies to CA riders... http://cbs2.com/local/new.traffic.laws.2.621080.html Just thought this was worth sharing...especially SB 67 allows police officers to impound a vehicle for 30 days when a person is arrested for street racing, exhibition of speed or reckless driving.
cowpuc Posted January 2, 2008 #2 Posted January 2, 2008 Boy that stinks to high heaven.. Sure wouldnt loan anyone one of my vehicles if I lived out there.
BEER30 Posted January 3, 2008 #3 Posted January 3, 2008 NC has a new helmet law . Being the old law was pretty vague , helmets now have to display the DOT label . Protest Rally in Raleigh yesterday with bikers riding around the Governor's mansion without helmets for a half hour . No tickets were given , nor was a protest permit submitted . Cops just stood by and enjoyed the scenery ! BEER30

Any given day you can spot one riding.
mraf Posted January 3, 2008 #5 Posted January 3, 2008 The last one is the best! No one under 18 to use a cell phone while driving. That one should be enforced in all 50 states.
Lone Eagle Posted January 3, 2008 #6 Posted January 3, 2008 Now, I wonder what they mean by this law? Are they talking on the bike or the rider???? "Bikers riding during darkness must use lights and reflectors while riding on highways, sidewalks or bikeways.". Or, how about this one - I couldn't even stand on one of these things - let alone go fast :rotf: "It is also illegal to ride an electronic personal assistant mobility device, such as a Segway Human Transporter, at an unsafe speed for conditions, in a reckless manner or a speed that endangers the safety of others." And those are appropriate for the heading - " Crack Down On Scofflaws"

cowpuc Posted January 3, 2008 #8 Posted January 3, 2008 In vaugeness, they can ticket you and hope you don't take it go to court! BAMMMM,, give that man a CEEEEGAR!!!! anothe case in point.. When our right to carry a concealed weapon with a valid Concealed Weapons Permit was finally passed here in Michigan, Law Enforcement got a line written into the new law that states if you have a Misdeamenor on your record you cannot get a permit.. A couple of Attorneys finally figured something out a few months after the law was inacted,, the rate of Misdemeanor cititations written by both Local LE and DNR went up drastically.. The general public had/has NO idea how much of that stuff goes on and LOTS of citizens here in Michigan are surrendering their right to carry because they chose not to fight that stupid little ticket like they should have... SOUNDS CRAZY BUT IT IS TRUE!!! Staying free is a full time job... 'Puc
BEER30 Posted January 3, 2008 #9 Posted January 3, 2008 Laws are written by lawyers....for lawyers . Shall they purge their pockets with greed and turn honest people to victims in more ways than one could imagine . I just love this quote from history ! William Shakespeare: The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers. BEER30
wild hair 39 Posted January 3, 2008 #10 Posted January 3, 2008 when they write a bad ticket,on a law that dose not exist,they don,t show up,now the lawer,just made a 1000 bucks been there done that

James Ardrey Posted January 3, 2008 #12 Posted January 3, 2008 These are the same people that scream out civil liberties have been taken away by the current administration. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. But of course these elites think they know what is best for the rest of us.Nanny state politics at it's finest.
