Brenda H Posted March 4, 2012 #1 Posted March 4, 2012 This may belong in the "Jokes" threads. . . . As most of you know, there was quite a blaze in the Daytona 500 last week when the 42 car broke, Montoya lost control, and the car nailed the back end of one of the track's jet dryers. To call it a small blaze would be an understatement as the line of fire stretched across the width of the track thanks to 200 gallons of jet fuel. Add the 30+* banking and fighting it was "fun" too. It took a fork lift to get what was left of the truck off the track. Well, there were comments made by the broadcast crew over the track's use of Tide laundry detergent to clean the remains of the fire and the stuff used to kill it off the track so they could go back racing. Tide has taken that piece of film and made a commercial out of it. The captions read " You keep inventing stains.", then "We'll keep inventing ways to get them out."
Venturous Randy Posted March 5, 2012 #3 Posted March 5, 2012 It is also an interesting note that Tide was the major sponsor for Darrell Waltrip for awhile and he was one of the commentators. RandyA
Brenda H Posted March 5, 2012 Author #4 Posted March 5, 2012 It is also an interesting note that Tide was the major sponsor for Darrell Waltrip for awhile and he was one of the commentators. RandyA DW commented on that as it was Tide who was his primary sponsor when he won his Daytona 500 and did the infamous "Icky Shuffle" :dancefool:if memory serves on the 17th day of the month, in the #17 Tide car and on his 17th attempt to win the darn thing. DW got to lord it over Earnhardt Sr. [his words] for two years before the #3 car and it's driver finally won his Daytona 500 on his 20th try.
