Cougar Posted March 3, 2012 #1 Posted March 3, 2012 What the heck are these two little brass parts used for that came off the red cap on the Deka Battery All I used was the bolts like I always have in the past.
Hummingbird Posted March 3, 2012 #2 Posted March 3, 2012 dunno - I got 'em also, they're in the parts drawer now. Hopefully if I ever need them I'll remember where I put 'em
Cougar Posted March 3, 2012 Author #3 Posted March 3, 2012 LOL, They are pretty little parts tho.... was thinking the same as you , parts drawer.. But still wondering why they went to that expense to make are parts drawer a little fuller
Cougar Posted March 3, 2012 Author #5 Posted March 3, 2012 Aww I know, there for foreign places that use 240V yeah thats it..
FreezyRider Posted March 3, 2012 #6 Posted March 3, 2012 In some installations - like on my Wing - the connector on the end of the cable is too wide to fit into the recess and pull tight against the battery lug. Those spacers simply space it out so that it can be tightened down correctly. In other words, they go between the battery post and the cable lug. Joe
Cougar Posted March 3, 2012 Author #7 Posted March 3, 2012 Thanks Joe,, :clap2:Now I have extras if you loose one Now I don't have to go CRAZY anymore and I can sleep at nights again.
Monty Posted March 3, 2012 #8 Posted March 3, 2012 Well, mine had instructions. It said to use those if you were mounting them as side post. "The spacers are required for side mount cable installation only! The top mount terminal position does not require the round spacers, use supplied bolts only."

flb_78 Posted March 3, 2012 #10 Posted March 3, 2012 You could thread the inside of them and tell every one you have a set of brass nuts.
Snaggletooth Posted March 3, 2012 #11 Posted March 3, 2012 If you look at the (front) side of the battery posts you will see a threaded hole facing the outside. You can attach extra wires there to keep the top connection cleaner if needed. The spacers are needed to allow for the recess to keep the connections from binding on the battery body. Make sure the flat spot lines up to keep them from binding. And now I know one of the answers to my question on your other post so I'm back to two. Mike
Cougar Posted March 3, 2012 Author #12 Posted March 3, 2012 Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am in the garage right now and just took a look at what you siad Mike. All I need to do is find a couple more bolts to add my other stuff to.. THANKS I did not even notice the threaded part/hole on the side. GREAT IDEA! Jeff
Snaggletooth Posted March 3, 2012 #13 Posted March 3, 2012 Finally ...... proof I CAN find my hole with both hands! Been a lot of discussion on that lately.
